    Default Computer Build Under $600.

I haven't really planned a computer build for the i5's/i7's or the new Geforce and Radeon series, so I need help designing a computer build under 600 dollars for a friend. It doesn't require an O.S or monitor. It's going to be a couple of months before he orders it but I'd rather start planning now.

So, any tips or builds of your for under $600?

IMO, you should leave out planning the CPU & Motherboard until you get to buy them. Both Intel and AMD have new ranges coming out this year and depending on your budget and purpose you can either buy a newer CPU/Mobo or find the current generation cheaper.

But some info on like the resolution & settings he plays on, the purpose (heavy gaming, light gaming, folding, overclocking, etc) of the build would be really helpful.

I will get that info for you ASAP, but he hasn't told me himself. I assume he has a resolution of around 1280x720 and he's looking to use it for gaming. (Perhaps for games like Black Ops and BC2.)

If its going to be in a couple months wait for nVidia and AMD to release the rest of the 500 and 6000 series, and wait for Intel to release Sandy Bridge and AMD to release Llano before you start planning. There isn't really a point to start planning now because so much new stuff is coming out soon.

Sounds like a plan to me.
