As far as I'm aware infantry don't wear armour so therefore don't have any armour upgardes, so perhapps they could be used to give them diffrent hats but with no defence upgrade.
It would work something like this for British Infantry:
Armour Upgrade
None - Bicorns XX-XX
1st - Tricorns XX-1806
2nd - Stovpipe shakos 1806-1812/14
3rd - Belargic Shakos 1812-15
So does anyone think this could work or am I dreaming?

A splendid idea as far as aesthetics chep, but I must profess my doubts over the utility of such a thing, of course, if you're only end is to liven things up on the old battle line, then all the power to you!
