How to win autoresolve?

What would incerase my chances of winning a full stack vs full stack battle without reinforcements etc. (what does my stack have to consist of)? I am wondering because I'm playing MP campaign with a friend and he sucks at battles so he always wants to autoresolve, so sadly I can't effectively use my easy strategies that work againist AI like a charm (and will most likely work againist a player that has no idea what he's doing).

Sorry for the double post, but just wanted to inform that I tried having full stack of artillery, but it didn't work. I had an artillery army with a 9 or so star general, all of those artillery guns were 6lb, thought, then I fought a Bavarian army which was smaller in terms of units, but logically outnumbered me (because of obvious reasons) and they defeated me without loosing a single unit (thought they lost many men, like 500 from a thousand or so). Does full stack of artillery only work if it's 12lbs or howitzers or similiar?

Hmmm, full stacks may not work as well.
I think what people were trying to say is that artillery is overrated by the autoresolve function which I think is true. You may be right you need heavy artillery (12lbers); otherwise, experiment a bit how many are best.
