Do you think CA will return to Swords and Shields gameplay VS gunpowder after nap/empires

I was a huge fan since Rome Total War of this series.

However, Empires and Napoleon were big disappointments as the gunpowder battles lacked the 'epicness' and enjoyability. That is just my personal opinion anyway.

I was wondering, after Shogun 2, do you think CA will return to a time before guns again with an original title?

If so, what possible time periods/settings would they use?

Much as I would love to see Rome 2, I doubt they will do two revisits in a row.

They could go anywhere in history, that is the beauty of the franchise.
As yet they really haven't made the most of that, probably because they are trying to hit a theme that has a wide appeal.
TBH I was a little surprised that they went with Shogun 2.

In one of the recent interviews WW2 was mentioned in passing.
I am not sure that would convert easily into the TW world,
not least, bringing airwarfare into the equation will be quite a challenge.

Whatever they do, long live the TW series!

I mean they've already experienced proper gunpowder units with Empire and Napoleon and they've obviously worked with melee so why not create a game that bridges the gap between M2TW and Empire?

Not a bad idea that, bridging the gap. Elizabeth TW or something, lob in the Armada for added spice and best of both worlds, manly toe to toe combat and some gunpowder stuff knocking about.

Enter..Kingdoms 2 ish.
