    Default Guys, urgent help needed.

My printer, a Canon MX 310, keeps saying "Jammed paper, take out jammed paper and press ok". There is NO jammed paper seen when I opened up the cover. I do not know what to do.

I restarted the printer, turned the power on and off, took the usb cable out and back in, NOTHING works.

The sad thing is, I dont see any paper stuck.

What do I do? Any help is appreciated. My project about history is due on monday, and im completely stumped. Im basically crying inside, and plus the printer was expensive

well, maybe it is a driver problem. Are you using windows ?? you can use system restore to set your computer back to before this problem started. I think this would work.

But how would restoring it help the Printer though? Everytime I start the printer it keeps saying "jammed paper take out paper and press ok". Im afraid that what if there is paper? But I cant find any, and how do I even check it? Since I don't see any paper stucked.

Before, when there was a jammed paper error, I could always see the paper being stuck and i could pull it out, but now there is no paper.

Also I need soem help with the restore thing. If I restore it, will anything happen to the programs or mods I downloaded? Will they be uninstalled? Like RS2?

If it's under warranty contact the manufacturer.

The warranty finished, I had this printer for years. It worked perfectly yesterday. It was working like a charm actually. I dont really use it much, so it cant ware out.

If its out of warranty just bite the bullet and get a new printer, even if it could be repaired chances of it being done before your due date is nill. Just find a local print shop or a friend to print it for you in the meantime.

Do a system restore, only recent modifications you have done to your system will be reverted. The Computer is a pretty complex machine my friend. sometimes a screwed up registry number could lead the system to crash! If it says there is a jammed paper and you can't see any then it is most probably a driver problem.

    Happy new folks.............

if the printer was an epson i would suggest checking the paper loader, check the springs to see if they have gone a bit limp.(tension)

take the colour 500 (styles II), we used to put an extra spring in the middle.

Sorted out 99.9% of paper feed problems.

I haven't got any certificates for cannon, only epson range (up to 1998)

    overhaull

Also i would clean the loader with some Cleaning paper, and grease any cogs(inside).

If you got any clogged jets in your printer head, put a bit of sellotape on the head, press firmly, then rip off. this should prize some clogged jets.

Do not follow his advice, this is a printer problem. A printer is not affected by a computer in the slightest. It is certainly possible the printer's firmware has a problem but there isn't any way you could fix that.

System restore will not help with the printer, do not do this...

make sure that there is no piece of paper hanging in there somewhere, check 2 rollers inside the printer (they pull the paper). Click and hold resume button, if this does not do hit and hold power button that should clear out memory.

God I hate printers they give me no end of grief.

If your getting a paper jam with no paper and given the age of the device it sounds like the feeding wheels that pulls the paper from the tray into the printer need to be replaced. We get this problem a lot at work (but more often due to the volume of printing we do) and bloke comes along with his toolbox and whips out the old wheels and pops on new ones.

Try opening up your printer and look at where the paper is feed through there should be some blue/grey wheels, if they have a whitish looks about them it means they are worn and they need replacing (if you can source them of course).

Sorry didn't reed this bit I just saw your problem and knew the answer. At this point in time and given the time restrictions you are up poo creek without a paddle I'm afraid. Can't you get a friend to print off for you or print it of at school?

So I have to open it up, like take out the screws? Because if I just open the cover (doesn't need to open screws), like for example when i need to put new ink inside, I can barely see the rollers, or move them to clearly see any paper that's stuck inside.

I got a friend to print it out for me, but I really am depressed about my printer. It's like we gone through alot of things together, and it was actually a pretty darn good printer.

If you can't see them then its doubtful you can replace them in which case it looks like a write off. It wouldn't do any harm to take it a part and see if you can spot a jam.

Do a very through check for a jam, sometimes things look clear but are not.
