EU3 save times randomly started taking years to finish

Eu3 save times have suddenly turned into around 5 mins rather than the few seconds that it used to take, does anybody know what is causing this/ is there anyway to fix it, as it is rather irritating?

Well i just found it strange that for around 50 years it took 3 seconds to save and then one year later it took 5 minutes. And Croesus it does take me ages to load a save as well.

Its something to do with if you resign and reload the game the saves get freakishly big so you have to quit to the desktop start it back up then load the game if you want to stop the saves.

resign->reload That makes it big

quit to desktop-> reload I have had no problems so far this way.

Go find your saves, and see how big they are.

As Giga has said, there's a known issue with Divine Wind (I think it's due to Achievements) where the size of saves can spiral out of control if you resign and reload often.

Well i did check the save size when it started to take a long time to save and i was quite surprised at how big it was - 700,000 KB, which probably does explain the massive save time. I do have divine wind, so i think i shall try just quitting to desktop rather than resigning in future to try and keep the save size to a minimum.

You can probably find a save game trimmer somewhere, for EU3. Don't know if it'll be compatible, but it might help as well.

If you still have the problem, which is due to the achievement being repeat over and over again. I heard not logging on the paradox thing(Forgot what it call.)should fix the problem

I have never logged on to my paradox thing, but the problem seems to have been caused by resigning instead of quitting to desktop making the save really big, so i just dont resign anymore.
