    Default HRE units

    While playing early campaign for the HRE, why can't I make units like feudal and mailed knights (foot and mounted) at all.

    Also, why are units like light men at arms and armored sergenats not available until I make a citadel which I find strange (as said by the custom battle), or did it really take that long to develop those units?

    SS uses RealRecruitment. Units become available when they were historically. Events have to fire before they become available.

    Else if you want to use the old system again try No Waiting for 6.3

    http://www.pressdat.com/mtw2/HRE/HRE.html says that dismounted and mounted mailed knights are availbe in fortresses until 1215 but I was never able to make them and it's now around 1200.

    Are you playing non-fixed SS version, and in SS setup you chose Disable RR ?

    I think I have disabled real recruitment (I don't know how to check), but I don't know what 'non-fixed ss version' means.

    It means you downloaded SS without patching it with the fixes.

    Many of the "problems" people have would be avoided entirely by carefully reading the installation instructions.

    I remember downloading the 4.2 fixes download, but is there anyway I can check just to make sure?

    Edit: I remember doing everything on your guide except for the option tips. I'll try disabling the UAC and see what happens.

    This thread should be renamed to "Why can't I recruit certain HRE units at a certain date?"

    OK, I do have the fixes installed, but, strangely, even though the campaign setup no longer has 'disable RR,' 'real recruitment disabled' is one of the additional features when I start the campaign.

    Additionally, I can't recruit things like light men at arms at all, and other units like men at arms when I make a armory in a citadel regardless of time period.

    I did run the setup.

    I installed the no waiting submod, it got me the units.
