    Default Starting a new campaign in 6.2

    I have been playing Stainless Steel since 5.0 came out, that is about 3 years or so. Many times I started a campaign and left it before I even reached 1200 because it started to get boring and almost no one could match up to my empire. I stopped playing for a while but now I'm about to start a new campaign but I have some doubts of which faction to start with. I want some of your opinions and suggestions for house rules as well.

    My house rules are as follows:

    • Can only control faction leader, faction heir and lord high marshall on battlefield;
    • Taxes must be set to normal or low on peace time; in wartimes can only be set to high;
    • Can only attack other armies/cities with at least one general/family member on the army;
    • No toggle_fow whatsoever;
    • Cannot change cities to castles and vice versa.

    I have narrowed the factions down to:

    • Kingdom of Sicily
    • Kingdom of Hungary
    • Kingdom of Denmark
    • Kingdom of Spain
    • Kingdom of Portugal
    • Holy Roman Empire
    • Kingdom of France
    • Kingdom of England
    • Knights Templar (Will flee from Tortosa and start in Cagliari or something, cannot attack Catholic fellows unless they are excommunicated or to defend myself when AI declares war; must join every Crusade as soon as I have a good base and army)

    Please help me choosing one of this factions and tell me some more good house rules to spice up my campaigns a little. I'm playing 6.2 since I don't like 6.3 much. Tips appreciated
    Cassius: "Our men at arms have secured the city. We've received representatives from all the best elements. The senate is with us, the knights are with us."
    Brutus:"The pontifs, the urban cohorts, the lictors guild..."
    Antony: "Oh, the lictors guild, very good. Only rally the bakers and the flute players and you can put on a festival."

    This sound entriguing.... {great AAR material ,...btw...

    Other wise Spain or Sicily. SPain with a main battleline of javilins and Jav Cav as flankers...= Total Win....

    Sicily = Normans Knights & Muslim Archers...Nuff said.

    I did try it once, but I got squashed by CATHOLIC fellows instead of fighting muslims... The purpose was to conquer Africa and the Holy Lands, instead I spent the whole time trying to survive in Africa, Marseille, Palma, Cagliari.

    Marseille was attacked by Aragon. The first three attacks I managed to hold, then went onto Toulose and Barcelona. Meantime I conquered all of the Moors territory. Tried at all times to make ceasefire with Aragon but no good. As soon as I'm finished with the Moors, what happens? Portugal invades Fes and France joins the party. God darn it... It was a very tough campaign but I could do nothing but stand and watch my empire crumble . Besides that THEY STARTED the war and it was MY REPUTATION that went down!!! I was very reliable before all the wars started and by the end of the campaign I was Dubious. What the hell??? Besides that, without trades with France and Aragon I didn't make enough cash to have a half stack army! Oh well..

    Only when defending against Aragon and Moors...

    Besides that, I expected to be Genoa attacking me not Aragon, since I never ever trusted Genoa. The most despicable factions to me is Genoa and the Moors... Maybe I will start again and make better alliances, since I was only allied to the Papal States and HRE, may be a reason why they attacked me in the first place. Never though Marseille to be so troublesome...

    Aaragon...Once Touloose is taken...

    I'll come back with the main thoughts but this struck me as funny...

    Yes, I know Genoa considers Marseille as a 'home turf' but even so, they didn't attack me... it was Aragon, then france.. oh well
