    Hello Folks!
RS II is a gem, a wonderful work and "RS2 environment" a great gift! Thousend thanks!!

Soon after downloading the RS2 environment mod, i added parts of it to vanilla Rtw, at first only the trees, vegetation and new terrain textures. I was curious how all looks with my own grass-mod and Europe270bc. I got no problems when starting the first custom battle, all works fine.
In the next weeks, i will check the different climates etc. and for sure i will have some questions ;D

Is there a version of the RS2 environment mod, maybe from early development, wich has the sub-arctic climate with new vegetation?

The attached maps are from my final version of Europe270bc, wich was completed in 2008 but never published. The high-map was made from DEM files, like the one from RSII.

Greetings old friend. Good to hear from you again. Your map looks like a winner, and I would dearly like to have a copy of it.

As Tone said, the old sub-arctic climate was moved (as you'll note in the RS2 climates file) and used for a another type of Mediterranean climate, which we felt was necessary in order to provide a more accurate look on battle fields in certain areas. The sub_arctic climate was sorta wasted way up north in regions that were very large or seldom seen, TBH.

Rex, like Tone i am retired from modding and dont have the needed time to be a helpful member for any modding -team. I am sorry. But for sure, i will post my thoughts and suggestions.

    Hi Dvk, thank you! :O)
There are realy many differences between the last published and the final version of europe270. But somehow, i never felt realy satisfied. My Coastlines for example were never as smooth and nice on the strategic map, as the coastlines of RSII. But ok, i will upload the final version of the Mod in the near future.
Then you all can tweak the mod as you like

The African coast and some other areas never looked realy good and natural with the vanilla climates, therefore i agree, the new eastern mediterranean is a very good idea. But to have a alternate vegetation.db maybe, with a new styled subarctic could be nice too. Is it possible to add the new eastern mediterranean climate as a new additional climate to Rtw ???

Probably the most tedious part of the RS2 map was the coastlines. I'm sure that between Tone and I we spent hundreds of man hours working on that pixel by pixel.

As for adding climates....that would've been nice, but CA made that impossible. We did, however, (with Squid's expert help and geography database tool, and Tone's expertise) figure out how to put trees and vegetation in the swamp and sandy desert climates, which made them more useful and a lot better looking. We only figured this out very late in development, so I don't think the swamp climate (which has a winter) really got 'exploited' the way I'd like. But yeah, no joy on adding climates.

No, we changed the subarctic climate to eastern mediterranean before the new environment came along.

That's a great looking set of map files and if you ever felt up to tweaking ours a bit then you'd be really welcome.

Better yet, why don't you help us finishing RSII, and then we can help you, or do sth completely different

The reality is that I'm pretty much retired from modding (although I'm just doing a little work on some new Roman traits and fixing some of the Roman trait system that wasn't working as it should).

hey guys, did anyone of your hear about someone who added rs2 environment to a mod that uses the mundus_magnus map? I´m asking for Sonny Costanzos 270 B.C. Mod where everything works, but there´s grass everywhere on the strat_map even in the sahara or arabia.

Aye I'm trying to get the thing to work for my mod (which uses Mundus Magnus as a base). The descr_climates made by mudvayne doesnt work =/

In addition, no matter how bad I try I cant seem to get the campaign map water to work; it remains the way it was in vanilla =/

EDIT - think I got it working; only problem is that the water only seems to work if i extract the file to my data folder; is there no way to make it work in a modfoldered mod?
