I just tried to put this in vanilla and apart from some odd coloured strat map sea around the uk, it looks pretty good- i might even be tempted to play vanilla again .

If the skins and models can be ported to vanilla, then why not the Lighting and Vegetation ?

They released the environments the Team used in RSII to other people, so now they can, giving credits to the right people, use these environments in other mods like, say, EB

    Great news for the Community!
I have been already working to adapt these enviroments to our mod, and I must say it looks like a new tw engine. I'm glad every mod can now take advantage of the impresive job made by RS2 team.

I hadn't really thought about it before but this shows quite how much work goes into roma surrectum, top work guys.

Would like to see this compared to RTW vanilla map just out of intrest.

Here are the vanilla maps compared with RS2:

    Map heights
    Vanilla

    RS2

    Map climates
    Vanilla

    RS2

    Map ground types
    Vanilla

    RS2

Quite a lot of work went into this map to try and get things accurate...eg. a distribution map of ancient beech forests (corresponds to the dark orange climate colour):

and some pics here of modern forest distribution:

    Broadleaved:

    Coniferous:

OK here's a hybrid of RS2 and vanilla climate maps.....this should work for vanilla - unzip to data/world/maps/base and also delete map.rwm....make sure you make a back up first.

Really you'd also need to add the RS2 strat map textures (not sure whether these were in the download).

Could someone with some modding experience check this please?
