Default A Gift to the Community...

...for the most part from Tone, and in a small part from myself and other RS2 team members. We present the RS2 environment available for download and use in any mod. Here is the link:

    http://depositfiles.com/files/q7xukabv3

This download includes the new vegetation, trees and grass by Tone, as well as all the high res ground textures. It includes new skies, rivers, some bridge and rock textures, a new day types setup, and many other goodies.
It also includes new strat city textures, ground textures and water textures.......and includes a highly advanced descr_geography database which allows trees and vegetation in ALL climates.

I have made this as simple as it can possibly be...however, there are a few things that need to be adjusted before this can be used correctly. RS2 has used and moved climates around in a unique way, so this file in the map\base folder:

Must be edited so that it looks roughly like this in order for climates to be placed right. I will be willing to help anyone with questions, but I would HIGHLY advise that you have an idea what you are doing before you just download this and throw it into your
RTW folder. This can be used with Alex and BI, but here again, the map_climates.tga file in their respective folders need to be altered to work right. I have provided the RS2 files as examples, and also have provided 'Fall of Rome' files (by Florin80) that will convert that mod completely to use the new RS2 environment. I used it as a test bed for doing this.

The notable changes in the use of climates in RS2 are that the 'swamp' climate has a winter, and so cannot be used in southern areas like the Nile...otherwise, you'll have snow in Egypt.
The 'sub_arctic' climate is now a coastal Mediterranean climate along the northern coast of Africa and the mideast, as well as southern Anatolia. It will appear in Scandinavia if the climate file changes aren't made.
The 'semi_arid' climate has been used for elevated areas of the mideast, and in the area of Parthia because it has a winter, and some moderate snow or 'frostiness' will appear in winter. So if the color for that climate isn't moved to those areas where it would make sense to use it, you'll get a bit of snow in places that would look weird.

Credits for this should go to the following where this is used for anything other than personal use:

    Tone....about 95% of everything.
DVK901...rivers and a few textures here and there.
Prometheus...Roman and Greek strat city models.
Pacco....eastern, Carthaginian and Barbarian strat city models and textures.

Please note that the vegetation cannot be regenerated in this version of the RS2 environment. It must be used 'as is'. If you have a need to do this, you'll have to contact Tone for the use of his tree and vegetation models, which are NOT included.
Be aware: This is offered as a gift, and we take no responsibility for damaged installs of mess ups if the files are not used correctly.

PS: The attached file (descr_cultures.txt) has the correct set up for non-RS2 mods where the Barbarian culture does NOT build large and huge cities...which was the Vanilla configuration. A number of mods (SPQR8, for example) have kept this Vanilla configuration. If you get a building DB error after installing the new environment, this would be why. Just replace the provided 'descr_cultures.txt' (in the new environment package) with this one.

We gave the environment work to the LOTR-TW guys a month or so ago and I know Bardo has been working on incorporating this with some modifications.

I've posted something on this thread....http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=387014

There's no reason why they couldn't be used....of course credit would need to be given. I don't think anyone has tried creating new vegetation yet for M2TW however. It'd need some work on development to try and regenerate the vegetation with new models....(and would probably need some conversion from .cas files to the M2TW format).

Great if someone wanted to give it a try.

Will this work with EB, even though the map here doesnt extend to the areas of EB?

Still sticking with RS2 though...EB is my choice only if i want to play with an extremely large Seleucids or Baktria

TGC in order to continue its development seak one or more desicated scripters to put our campaign scripts mess to an order plus to create new events and create the finall missing factions recruitment system. In return TGC will give permision to those that will help to use its material stepe by step. The result will be a fully released TGC plus many mods that will benefit TGC's material.
Despite the mod is dead does not mean that anyone can use its material
    read this to avoid misunderstandings.

IWTE tool master and world txt one like this, needed inorder to release TGC 1.0 official to help TWC to survive.
Adding MARKA HORSES in your mod and create new varietions of them. Tutorial RESTORED.

We're basically saying it's available for other mods and modders to use, rather than being exclusive to RS2.

just wondering, if i only want to change the vanilla cities in original rome total war to prometheus's citites on the campaign map, do I just replace the models_strat folder with the one your provided? I can't find prometheus's cities anywhere else. I would love to use the other campaign map textures and battle map textures, but unfortunately I'm not that good with modding. I still really appreciate the authors of this mod for posting this stuff though.

EDIT: (Ignore stuff above) This is going to sound really dumb and I apologize for more questions, but why are there 3 residence folders, and what exactly do I do with them? I'm installing the environment mod on a vanilla copy of RTW. Do I just put all the contents from all 3 folders into the one vanilla residence folder? Also, should the mod_0.pak be placed in the packs folder and thats it, or is there something else i need to do with it? I really appreciate any answers, and I'm sorry if I'm annoying anyone with questions.
