Default Enemy refusing to accept peace

Playing as France in In Nomine, Very Easy (newcomer) c. 1430s. I declared war on Hainut and inevitably i got tangled in a big war. but that's not the problem-England decided to attack at that moment. I HATE england. previously, i got into a war with them and they refused to accept a white peace even though i had won greatly. Thanks to war exhaustion and revolts, my nation collapsed. Now, even if i offer them provinces, they refuse a peace deal. How can i make them shut their arrogant english mouths up and accept a reasonable peace deal? I'm sick of never being able to end a war without losing a ridiculous amount of resources, even if i won. I flat-out cannot win a war with a nation larger than a province.

You just have to wait for them to get sick of the war.

Eventually they'll send you a white peace to signal that.

Then decline it, and make your demands

thanks for the quick reply. +rep.
now, you see, i wasn't prepared for the war. i offered a very generous peace deal after they were the clear victors, something like 150 ducats, Calais, giving up cores and vassals, and they still refused. Unfortunately i am already sick of the war and they aren't-will they just keep going? in every war i've been tangled up in, in the end my nation collapses. not pleasant. i need peace in my favor for once.

If the AI thinks the war is going well enough, they'll stay at war.

If you can crush their mainland armies you should be able to get a white peace or better, you'll just need to give it time.

don't think i'll be playing a nation that has to fight england, then. defeating their armies means a very risky, pain in the naval invasion.

You don't need to invade them, just occupy their provinces that border you. Eventually they give up

Also, the AI always uses war taxes, which really raise your war ehxaustion, so simply don't use them, and England's WE will skyrocket over time, especially if you are occupying some of their provinces, whereas yours will stay at a managable level, and they will be compelled to askl for peace.

If that doesn't work, you could always try to sneak some troops across the channel. It's risky, but usually the English keep all of their carracks in one super-stack and use it for patrolling. If you could muster a decent number of cogs you could quickly get a good invasion force into England, then if you get even a bit of success they will agree to your demands.
