    Default What am I missing??

I've added some new units to BI. All files for one unit (models and textures) go into one folder like the map "legionary" contains the legionary's models and textures. After adding changes in the txt files I get this "generic" error:

    Failed to find texture 'bi/data/models_unit/romans/equites_alares/textures/Equites_Alares_east.tga'.

and I simply have all models and textures directly in the folder "Equites_Alares" without subfolders (bi/data/models_unit/romans/Equites_Alares).
I also checked the descr_model_battle.txt and everything is fine.

Why is BI/RTW asking for Equites_Alares_east.tga.dds in a texture folder which I didn't mention in the descr_model_battle.txt?
I have experienced it before and I was able to fix it. Sure I can fix it if I create the file RTW is asking for thus adding 'textures/Equites_Alares_east.tga' but it is weird. I have solved this several times but I never really knew how. I hope I can get an explaination how to fix this and what I might have overlooked, which I seriously doubt.

I'm having trouble with your use of the word map. It isn't a term I'm familiar with, but I'll take a guess. You said you put both the model and texture in the same map/file. If by the term model you mean the cas file it goes in the models_unit folder and the textures go in the texture folder within the models_unit folder.

sorry, I was thinking in Dutch . I meant "folder".

and, well I changed the structure a bit and I've put all new textures and models of new units in a newly created folder named after the unit. So in the equites_alares folder all models and textures for this unit are directly inside this folder.
The folder itself is located in bi/data/models_unit/romans/
I changed every .txt file in order to get it right (export_descr_unit.txt, descr_model_battle) but still I get this error and I don't know what I've done wrong. And I'm no noob at adding units as I've done it before many times succesfully.
Why is RTW asking for a texture in a folder which doesn't exist? I didn't even put 'bi/data/models_unit/romans/equites_alares/textures/Equites_Alares_east.tga' in any of the .txt files.

So it's looking for a texture you didn't target anyway?

Why did you create new unique folders and how does the comp see/target them? I ask because my copy of BI only has the one texture folder with everything in it. Same for the models. I've added many of my own units to RTW so I know a few things about adding units. I've never heard or seen of anybody creating faction specific folders for textures.

I believe, if there is something amiss with the file path or file format or name etc., the error message sometimes displays that it is looking for a texture file of which you will have no knowledge. This is, as I understand it, caused by the texture that was attached to the cas file in development of the model (I assume the cas file must possess some memory of the skin?).

Is that why some units don't have a texture line at all but default to that skin anyway?
