Saxons in North Africa..... Whathell

Started a campaign in Vanilla as the Moors, like their position and thought it'd be cool try a muslim, alternative faction for once but things aren't going exactly great right now in the campaign but that's not the point

Under Marrakesh (at the bottom edges of the map) is just endless desert it seems but I can tell there's space enough for 2 settlements, ok I thought it would just be a half garrisoned city or town of rebels so it takes me a good 7 - 9 turns to get all the way to Timbuktu (literally) to find the saxons there with a barely garrisoned settelment

buuut a fully stacked army ready to pounce and own my half stack as soon as I tried to do anything I do the smart thing and march my army all the way back to North Africa and to Spain to help with some troubles there, a waste of 8+ years doing that but why are the saxons even there? Error?

I'm using the play as all factions mod (one of them anyway) and the Normans and factions are playable in it. I'll try and get a screenshot up here... it really is so bizarre

The Saxons are in the game, but only in the tutorial and the Battle of Hastings.

Technically, Normans came from Denmark as well... And later on, from all over the Norselands.
Normandy was officially NOT a part of France for several centuries after its´ "foundation".

And wasn´t the Saxons more from northern Germany, rather than Denmark?

I know the Normans came from Denmark. But technically, Americans on the East Coast came from Europe and we're extremely different after 200 years.

Well, it has to be built into the mod. If you can play as the Saxons and Normans in your game they need to have at least a start settlement or be a horde which would be unsuitable for the Saxons. Since the Saxons shouldn't be in the game at all anymore, the modders picked Timbuktu as their starting position because it is remote.

It's got to be the mod, the reason being is that the Normans and Saxons need to have a capital / starting settlements -- the easiest way to do this is simply to give them a rebel settlement. timbuktu and arguin (the two near moors past the desert) both start off rebel, and I suppose the author of the mod decided that having the normans, and saxons both start out in Britain or Northern europe would be redundant.

The saxons haven't got anything good though, just Theigns which are like very good version of armoured sergeants but with a smaller unit size and no ability to up-armor. Saxons have no horsemen either. Although, the mod maker may have gone so far as to give them other units - the easy way to give them horse units that also belong to the rebel / merc faction.

Actually, when looking at the events in a history book, the americans of today are just like the people who colonized the place - at least in my opinion. They haven´t changed a bit, maybe their technology has improved, but not the people themselves.
And the Normans didn´t become french for centuries.
But I suppose I should just better back off, and let you have this one, since we are both right in our own ways

As far as I can tell, the americans today are no different in general behaviour than the immigrants who colonized the place (which they did by pushing everyone they encountered to nigh extinction. civilized? you decide...)
No offence meant with this (as strangely as THAT might sound...), I just don´t think there is any notable difference between the colonizers and their descendants.
After all, humans are still humans.

And anyhow, we have already gone far off topic.
