How did you take out egypt?
All you should really need to do is cut&paste rebels into the playable section. There should be no need for you to take egypt out.

FWIW, I strongly recommend against playing as the rebels. It will probably screw all kinds of hard-coded things up.

Works fine actually. Especially with the ExRM-stacks o' doom the rebels start out with. I mean, it's a pushover in vanilla. The only thing that could mess it up is scripts, I think.

Don't know if the RTR guys do anything like this, but some mods (e.g. Europa Barbarorum) use some Rebel cities as Rube Goldberg machines - some of the "buildings" in that settlement are used by scripts to create the more advanced bits of the game. These cities are "cut off" from the rest of the map by mountains etc to stop anyone conquering them, as demolishing or damaging these buildings would cause the game to crash. So beware if you play as Rebels you don't demolish anything!

Nope, we don't do that, but it's a clever idea.
