okay, first off i'm not 100% sure this is the right place, forgive me if its not, but it seems somewhat techy, and its all going over my head, so....

anyway, i like in England, and for the non english amoungst you, we are switching off the analogue signal soon, and switching the a digital signal. Now i recently brought a digitial tv, and plugged it into my aerial.

We have a digital signal, the tv tells me so, it comes it at 33%. This is too weak to show any chanels, needing 85% according to the booklet that came with the tv.

I've tried researching this, but i shall confess i've gotten very lost with all the technical details.

i have heard about booster signals, but no where does it seem to say what i want. Having looked at a few, they seem to say something about db, ie this aerial has 18 db and such and such. Now, my worry is, since these aerials are quite expensive, how much of a boost do i need to get up from 33% to the minimum 85%? I saw somewhere, though i cannot find it again, that distance from the transmitter matters, and i am apparantly about 20 miles away from it.

basically i want some help solving this, preferably with an indoor aerial so i can watch tv in my room as well as the living room without worring about having to make a splitter or anything.

In the US here they switched us to digital and that's the last time I ever watched TV. Out where I live the people around me had to buy big ugly outdoor antennas to bring in the signal.

i have no idea, its a figure that my tv gives me. I imagine that its the quality, but thats a complete and utter guess.

We are discussing Digital television, not where Jaketh lives.

    Please stay on topic.

Sorry to hard on your but you should have researched this a bit before you rushed out and bought the equipment. The sad reality of matter is in the UK there are a lots of areas that can't receive a standard terrestrial digital signal and by the looks of things you are in one of those areas (to HD on freeview it's even worse). The way forward is Freesat which as the name implies will mean fitting a small satellite dish to your flat/house/castle and get it pointing to the Astra Vista satellite in space, then run the lead from the dish and into your house to your Freesat box (your going to need a new box as well but there not expensive, my TV came with a Freesat tuner built in).

Freesat is a good way to go if you cant get an aerial signal..

i don't use a box, its a digital tv, so is inside the tv.

i have no idea, i don't really live in an area that is big on neigbouring spirit. Heck, i couldn't tell you the name of a single person who lives on my road.

though my understanding is that the area of town i live in is a fairly poor area for recieving freeview.

Same thing, the options should still be there. If you found those two values you can instantly tell if you're going to need another solution.

In that case I would start to look at Freesat rather then waste more time with Freeview, it could be some of the houses in your road can get Freeview and others can't hence why your post code shows up as being Freeview ready/enabled.
