A mildly complicated request (about skins)
Hello, i'd like someone to walk me through where to get skins for the roman legions that are lorica segmentata WITH gloss maps, so that they are really shiny, and then how to apply them to the post-marian legions in Rome Total Realism and THEN how to make them buildable prior to the marian reforms. I tried to look for the skins in the download center and in the forums but I couldnt find any that look like the ones i want.
I tried Ferres' legions before but they didnt have gloss models.
If anyone can walk me through it i'd be very grateful.

Webbird has gloss files for most of his skins, maybe all of them. As for making them buildable pre-marian just go into your data\export\descr\buildings.txt file and scroll down to where the barracks\stables\ranges are and remove the line at the end that says, and marian_reforms.
Update, I'm at home and was able to look at his skinpack. Webbird has all the Lorica Segmenta Romans with the gloss file too.

Ok, I downloaded his skins but I have no idea how to apply them to the skins from Rome Total Realism. Drag and drop in this case would only apply it to vanilla RTR. Please help! Thanks.

I believe RTR has gloss-files right out of 'the box'. (6.3) It's one of their major new features. Check whether you have 'gloss-mapping' enabled in your preferences.txt

I haven't played since 6.0 so you could very well be right, but from what I understand the post-marian legions are different than in vanilla legions (curved shields, no lorica segmentata), so my objective is to put those vanilla-looking post marian legions, with gloss, into RTR. And i can't do that by myself

This is the 'Holy Grail' of unit creation,
http://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=51750
Its also very useful for lesser tasks like adding texture lines to the descr_model_battle.txt use step 3 to add or change texture/skin designations. As long as its the same model it should work fine.
