Problems with unit models
I have Rome:Total War Gold. Everything is ok except for the fact that most heavy armoured units, like spartans, most roman units and generals, seem to be glitching. When zooming in I only see their shields and their body is compressed into a ball. There could be more models affected then those mentioned, I am not that far yet into the campaign. Is there a patch for this?

Are your grapics drivers up to date?
Do you have directx 9.0c installed?
Have you installed .Net 4?

I have done all the above and the problem isn't solved yet. I also checked my Medieval II TW and there is no problems there with my units

Re: Problems with unit models
I suppose this is similar to the problem this guy has:
http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=251268
It most likely has something to do with your graphic drivers, as I have found out a while ago that installing the ATI Catalyst™ Legacy Display Driver seem to cause the same problem on my laptop. If you are playing on a laptop, it is best to install drivers from the manufacturers, even if it meant having an older driver.
Or you can always try a work around which will produce a somewhat dodgy result: You'll need to edit your descr_model_battle.txt found in your RTW data folder to replace all "model_flexi_m" with "model_flexi". This will result in the units that uses weighed bones on their models uncurling but does have some other consequences...
Only try the second method as last resort, as units that are "fixed" will be missing body parts!

Very good chance. I had forgotten that one.
Some like laptops are very specific for that model.

Re: Problems with unit models
It is the exact same problem like you mentioned. But I turned the unit detail to the lowest and now they don't curl up in small balls anymore. It is nit the most pretty sight to behold but now I atleast see my Spartan hoplites decimate the enemy
