Default AI behaviour to naval invasions

    Hi Guys

Current campaign, the Greek Cities have lost 7 full stack armies at sea while attempting an naval invasion of Crete. I've blockaded all of the ports on the Greek Mainland for the last 10 years and control most if not all of the med from Greece to Antioch. Is there a way to get the AI not to do this when it does not have command of the seas ie. after having 5 ships sunk and loosing 4 full stacks for the AI to (1) break the port blockade and build better ships and (2) carry on expanding elsewhere until its naval is strong enough ? Its been a wee bit annoying watching the best Greek units simply get taken out like this , although its definitely made things easier for me to take the mainland when I decide to do so.

Update : Played a wee bit more today and teh AI has produced the highest level ships with silver armour to attack my feelt but its too late as it was using brimeres to ship nearly all of 9-10 full stacks from the mainland greece. As they don;t have any armies left I've counter invaded and about to take Sparta and Argos!

    Hi Chernish..

Using BI .. but if Alex stops that kind of behaviour I'm going to switch, although I am glad that my 3 stacks on crete didn't have to go against all 10 Greek armies. Kind of reminded me of the Samurai waiting for the Mongol invasion fleet - only the tsuanmi this time was my navy!

Here again....and I know people criticize me when I say this....the player really needs to help the AI some in RTW, and not take advantage of what the AI can't do as well as the player. I don't look at ships to see what is on them...or if I do look at them, I don't interfere with what the AI is trying to do....even if it means it may cause me trouble. I guess my take on this is that in 'real life', you wouldn't be able to know that an army was on a ship headed for wherever.....but in RTW it's like you have a spy satellite in orbit, with which you can zoom in and see everything the enemy is doing. I try to play as 'blind' as I really would've been in this era.

So it isn't really fair to say that a faction is 'wasting' it's troops when in fact one is taking advantage of a kinda 'cheat' that contributes to it.

    Hi DVK

A very good point. I hadn;t looked at it in that way and will do from now on. Is there a way to stop you as the human player from being able to check and see what if any units are on the ships ?

No, not really. It's all a matter of self-control, I guess.
