Well either lag or cutouts thanks to a bloody cyclone.
My brother blitzed the Italian campaign, but the diplomacy still seems poor. His vassal betrayed him, which shouldn't happen, especially not the state it was in.

Piedmont by any chance?, I always take them out completly the Italian and Egyptian Campaigns have very narrow diplomacy primarily everyone Vs France due to the small amount of factions and the size of the theatre.
The Campaign AI, liberating states feature really comes into it's own in the Grand Campaign obviously if you play as the French Empire you'll find it difficult to make any ground with the nations of the Grand Coalition, Normally taking their Capital does the trick (Prussia, Austria) but some Diplomacy is hard wired for example Britain will never make peace with France, and should you take Vienna as France Prussia will instantly declare war.
Maintaining the Confederation of the rhine and the Kingdom of Italy with the liberation of states and creation of Vassals goes some way to prevent it developing into everyone hates France.
Playing as the other countries presents different Challanges maintaining the Coalition, the threat of the Ottomans to the East if your Austria or Russia and keeping a check on the Danes and Saxons if your Prussia etc etc each Nation has a few smaller nations keeping them busy while keeping an ever pesent eye on the French.

Yes, Piedmont betrayed him. (Damn you're good.)
I gave England a shot and liberated Brittany. Hilarity ensued.
My bro likes NTW a lot more than Empire, finished a Russian camapign liberating Greece and Poland.
What Campaign of the Coalition faction is the most enjoyable?
The Prussian Campaign is very difficult, Weak economy, poor starting armies, and lack of area's to expand all add up to make this one a headache. The French are very strong and their armies are far superior so steaming into the fray against them can be problematic, If Saxony or Denmark goes unchecked they also pose a direct threat but the complicated alliances means you can soon become the Pariah of Europe.
Abandoning the Coalition also leaves you bankrupt (Britian will cease trade) and you'll have the Russians on you immediatly followed by the Austrians, best bet is to take out Saxony build up your economy and bide your time till you get the quality infantry that come with time and money.

I always like playing as Scotland and then just turtle for 50 turns.. while reading a book
Yea sounds very lame but I think its ok.
Will and act until victory
Lol. By turn 50 I have won the long campaign as Scotland.
So at what point do we decide the Xmas "break" season is over and start enforcing time limits on turns again? Getting awfully slow moving around here!
we should have made a break from 23 to 2 january.for me this ridiculous.i dont wanna play here in holidays.right now i feel like im forced to play.
Well when its your turn you should be forced to play your turn.. otherwise your just slowing the hotseat down..
Will and act until victory
not at christmas
I agree that there should be a "relaxing" of the rules over Xmas, what i was curious about is when the Xmas period is considered over for us Hotseaters!
2 january for me
well im back in work on the 4th January and i would have liked to have taken advantage of that by blitzing through a few turns! I think its fair to say that for most people it will be the first week of January when things go back to normal!
Interesting test here,
