Suggestion: 1.5 pace marching

As always I love to face artillery, how to counter it and get strategies against it.

One of the most annoying things however is that marching is insanely slow.
Artillery can be so devastating in the right maps because it just takes too long to get everything in position, run and they are exhausted when they show up.

I suggest something that makes unit go 1.5 faster.

Cavalry would be wonderful if they could trot, not just walk and gallop.

Else ive seen people wanting to adopt some sort of cossack 2 style.
Maybe marching speed would increase over time?
So that the enormous maps wouldn't be a pain and large flanking maneuveres are actually possible.

This is something I personally like very much.

The battle maps are far to small to increase unit speeds. Otherwise tactics would be impossible to implement, as you need time to form up, and space. This can only be achieved by making all maps bigger or decreasing unit size, besides the battle would be too hard to control and get the results you want. But not saying you couldn't mod it in for yourself. Its quite easy!

I am not akin on increasing unit speed per say. Rather add a new move mode: Trot, double time etc.

Basically giving a middle man between running and walking.

The later suggestion will be that speed builds up slowly as you march over time, so long flanks on certain maps will be remotely possible.

It takes proportional fatigue of course.

In reality the movement speeds on both the ETW and NTW maps are far faster than they should be historically given the range of the weapons, although the reload times are about right. So, as things stand the defenders get fewer shots at an attacker than they ought to have, increasing the movement speed would merely make this situation worse.

With the first suggestion they would still take proportional fatigue.

Maybe just have it for cavalry.

a good idea, but there is a major risk that it might move the balance too much making dragoons overpowered (like light dragoons in etw).
