    Default Archers/longbowmen

Would there be a way to make archers and longbowmen fire faster? I'm finding that archers on walls fire so slowly that they aren't really ever effective against approaching seiging armies. Also, you can fit at max 3 units of archers on a wall. I'm really not finding that archers are all that great in defense. Do you have suggestions/tips about what to do with archers? Also, would it be possible/appropriate to make them fire faster? I know the thera mod managed to make archers fire really fast. I haven't played with any elvish factions and I'm basing this on my experiences with gondor and dale.

If you're having issues with archers on walls, it's because of their positioning. Try putting a unit in front and then put the archers on the wall and remove the other unit. Giving your archers some space between them and the wall crenelations will make them much more effective on defense.

WOW! I have been playing M2TW for years and it has never occurred to me to do that. I will try that out right away.

ok, Thanks Yarrum, nice one, me neither Centaurus, I will give it a try.
Thinking about it, maybe its because they are close to the wall that they sometimes fire arrows upwards into the air in a looping arc, instead of directly down at the attackers....

Almost everyone complains about teh fact that TATW's archers are too powerful. They're not really. And, the tactic Yarrum suggested, works fine to me as well.

Of course they are. The accuracy of the archers in this mod since the last patch seems to be much higher as in every other med2-mod i played. My basic rohan archers killing over 30 % of the enemy force even as attacker in a siege battle.

+1, and if you play an elven faction, it's almost not fair how many kills they can get before anyone lays a glove on them.

KK stated that no stats for archers were changed, so let's put it aside
To the topic - well if you look at real life it took some time to sting your bow and aim the target. Well action wise faster shooting of course would be cool.

also archers on wall are more effective teh smaller the unit size. settlement size still teh same but unit size smaller so you can fit more archers on teh walls. (battallions)

ok when you ahve unit size set to huge you ahve roughly 150 guys in a battalion. when you set it to small its roughly 32. you can fit more battalions of 32 on a wall than 150

The Elves live for a long time and thus have plenty of time to practise. Plus theya re naturally gifted with the usage of the bow and in general stronger and more agile than men.

BTW, I never really noticed such a big difference compared with 1.4 about the accuracy of archers.

And if you just don't link to pown your enemies with tons of archers, then just don't use that many archers.
