    Default Hard Drive Migration

Okay, so I have just ordered my new pc parts. Now my current hard drive is an IDE hard drive and my new motherboard doesn't have an IDE port so I've ordered a new HDD (Which I was going to do anyway) so what I want to do is backup ALL of my data from my current HDD and port it to my new hard drive. This way I don't need to reinstall half of my crap again.

Now, my question is, what's the best way to do this? I'm using Win 7 so is System Backup good enough to do it?

Fozzy you are asking a way to transfer from IDE to SATA or asking a better software option for making backups?

The new computer doesn't even have one IDE port for the optical drive? If not, it will be a bit of a pain to move the data, since you won't be able to hook up both disks to the same motherboard.

Yeah that was why I was wondering what the best way to do it is since the motherboard I picked doesn't have an IDE port (Lucky I got a SATA DVD drive ).

If that's the case like Sim mentioned then i suppose you have to buy a external casing and transfer data via USB port onto new one and use the old one as an external HDD.
So I'd be spending another $40 for a HDD case? Dayum. I might be able to find an old HDD Enclosure in my box of goodies from my golden years of PC building.

There are cheap little IDE to SATA converters on eBay for like $2-3 but I can't confirm whether they actually work or not.

Okay, so I found an old HDD enclosure but it's firewire and neither of my motherboards have a firewire port, is there a firewire to USB converter around anywhere?
