    Default The Roman Military (books)

Does anyone know any good ones I can get on it? Preferably only up to about 250AD though if a book covers the entire existence of Rome then that's a good plus too. Basically thinks like about soldiers' lives, their equipment, military justice, the composition of legions etc. etc.

Are you talking abou secondary liteature?

There's a few you might want to check it out.

Introduction books to the Roman army:

Yann Le Bohec's The Imperial Roman army

    Extremely comprehensive and expensive works:

Paul Erdkamp's A Companion to the Roman army ( Covers the entire period of the Roman army, with up to date research)

Important books for understanding the modern view of the late Roman army:

Hugh Elton's Warfare in Roman Europe AD, 350-425
    A. D. Lee's War in Late Antiquity
