Corruption and other
Hello,
In my current campaign as the Byzantines I am loosing about 11000 (roughly 1/5th of my total income) to "corruption and other". I would very much like to decrease this number as it is costing me a lot, I just dont know how.
Only few of my governing family members have bad traits and I am keeping the amounts of rebels on my land as low as I can, I havent lost a single village to my enemies for the past 20 turns either...
Please help me out

Re: Corruption and other
Corruption increases the further from your capital a new territory is. It can be controlled, but not completely eliminated in far far away territories. Corruption should be fought in a combination of ways.
First, your capital should be as close to the centre of your empire as possible. You can see the effect by opening the Financial scroll, and then trying out different locations as capital and seeing which gets the best reduction (thanks painter for that tip).
Second, you want to get a governor into the territory - any governor, but one with law giving bonuses if possible. You can see the effect on corruption by moving the governor in and out of the settlement.
Third, build the order making buildings - the Town Hall series is the most important, followed by the Town Guard series. You will see the effect as you add them to the build queue. The Town Guard series does not have any effect after City Watch, but the Town Hall series continues to fight corruption all the way to Mayor's Palace. I think (not sure) that the Walls series also reduces corruption a little.
You will need to be patient, as the effects build up over time. It possible to eliminate corruption in closer and medium far away settlements, and to bring it down to less than 10% of income in nearly all. A common mistake (that I make) is moving the governor out too soon because you need him elsewhere. The game is all about priorities :d
