Do Jihad's ever end?

I owned Baghdad as the Mongols and got a Jihad put on me. I swear, i put in over ten turns of fighting off the Jihad and it looked like there was no end in sight still. Are these thigns even worth fighting or should i just pull out of the city and take it back over once the Jihad is up. I ended up caving in on this one and now i have like 5 stacks of multiple Islamic troops i nthe region. I depleted everything i had trying to stave them off, and it just felt worthless in the end. Is the only solution killing every single family member or what? I killed atleast 12-15 through battle and assasinations...

When a Jihad is called, for the next ten turns all Muslim factions may create Jihad Armies. After these ten turns, no more Jihad armies may be created. The Jihad ends when all existing Jihad armies are destroyed after that "Ten Turn Recruiting" period.

If your Jihad is still going, then there is one stubborn Jihad stack or so hanging around.

Still, would you say its better to just cough it up though and let the first army take it? They must have sent every single family member available at me...

I just feel like there i no winning against a Jihad. Even if i do much better militarily, they aren't paying jack swaut for their troops.

Yes the easiest way to deal with Jihad is to evacuate the city and retake it as soon as Jihad ends.

omg i just fu##### with the jihad!! im playing as the egypt. there is a jihad on palermo, the moor with the jihading army are on the island AND THEY DONT TAKE IT!!! for 10 turns they just stand and stand and nothing, and ofcourse the stupid kwazarmiean and turkish ai wont take the city cause they dont know how to buy a boat. it just makes me mad

we need to remove Palermo as a jihad target - pathfinding for AI causes considerable problems.

as for standing around - one possible cause is that the attacking armies aren't allied and are in each other's Zone of Control - and get in each others' way? (speculation)

occasionally you'll find the defending faction can arrange a temporary ceasefire with attacking jihad and crusading armies.

It takes them a while but there should be three stacks....

playing as byzantium and ive had 3 jihads against constantinople, i definally think they are a bit over powered, and movement is just ridiculous they can move from antioch to constantinople in 2 turns

What mod version, era, and difficulty settings please... and over what span of time did the Jihads occur?

i just raged quited my fatamid campaign because a crusade. so there it is my story. i got a crusade on cairo i have an army in anatolia to destroy them. first the lluck was with me i destroyed a crusading army witth minimal loses, then a norway army shows up , i block the roads and then after a turn i was like WTF where are they, then after the turn i saw that that army is near antioch!! then afther the turn my fleet is near the shore and the crusading army is besieging my city and after next turn my army get to shore and there is like few feets to the crusaders and teh movement runs out, i was so pissed off the army in cairo was big but my stupidness thought that the norvgians are gone and i send that army to take Libia , and the garrison of cairo was weak, so i lost the city and i rage quited.

In my current Early Era Lithuania campaign, there's been a standing Jihad on Toledo for the past 50 years.

Recently one of my Diplomats discovered a Fatimid general near Gaza that was on "Jihad", but never moved but a few squares per turn, not even towards the target but wherever he wanted.

No deserting either, he's still got a full stack, just sitting there and freezing up Jihads.

So move him to the jihad target and let the Castilians deal with him.

I find the Jihad ends after 110 turns, so it's quite a while
