    Default Economy?

    Or lack of so to speak. Ive played as Arnor and Isengard in succession; and iv noticed 2 things:

    1 - I have no money. Even though I have a tiny army (around 8 units) and Annuminas is a fully done up massive city I still rake in 1k a turn. Its a bit ridiculous for someone whos come direct from SS =/

    2 - the AI has stacks and stacks of armies ready to literally rape my nation (particularly Rohan ¬_¬). Where does it accumulate the vast wealth to spend on so many soldiers?

    Basically im sure the AI is given a money script per turn or something - thts fine. But seriously, how do I go about modding to make the economy and income stronger for the player. Ive seen the advice thread but I dont want advice, I want to tweak the economy to make it better.

    Its a great game but its just one thing that melts my head =/

    Rant over/

    Where would I go to do this? =)

    I have no idea... what you're talking about.
    I never had problem with money. It never was hard to get 10k with few full stacks of standing army.

    Things are so much different in the Reich?

    If I have ever problems with my income, I modify the "settlements_mechanics" and decrease corruption value to 0,5. Usually it is enough.

    descr_settlement_mechanics xml file is what you are after. It is found in the data folder of TATW. You can open and alter it with notepad.

    edit: To change corruption, you need to change these values.

    <factor name="SOF_DISTANCE_TO_CAPITAL">
    <pip_modifier value="0.5"/>
    <castle_modifier value="0.5"/>
    <city_modifier value="0.5"/>

    It can be hard at the beginning but once you expand somewhat money shouldn't be a big problem.

    SS can get a little over the top with the amount of cash it throws at you.

    There is a money shortage between round ~85 to 120 in the game, that's the time when most of the cities get a city level update.

    I've also made the experience of money shortage in the case of certain factions / game constellations, e.g. if you have a very large front line with different enemy factions and your own settlements are too much castles (mordor).

    Well, I actually played SS for the first time last night. I was playing as Scotland, and by turn 20 or so, I had something like 35,000 florins. I didn't have many places to spend that money, so I used the console to lower it whenever it got close to 50,000. Probably not the most favorable technique, but It worked well enough for what I needed.

    In this Mod, I generally have enough money to work with. It's less, but it's not bad at all.

    It is first hard but I do not recommend you suddenly start building up your economy. Take your building slowly, 3-4 settlements a turn. Keep your army to militia for the first 50 turns. Then, once you take the 1-2 nations around you, you then can create the better units and expand your economy.

    LOL
    It's only after you have lost everything, that you are free to do anything.

    I agree with Emperor Xenophon. Let me just say before everyone gets defensive that I think this mod is beautifully done and is probably the best and most thoughtfully made mod I've played for any game. With that said, what is with the decision to give the player no economy? I'm at turn #37 and still can't financially support 1 full army. Not one. It doesn't make any sense. I tried this mod a while back as Gondor and figured the economy issue must be because Gondor is constantly getting rocked by surrounding enemies. I've tried other factions and noticed they all suffer from this. Anyone who says they have enough to do what they want is a either a liar or clearly wants something very different out of the gaming experience than I do. I can't make enough troops to do anything but have a stalemate (fun!) and that's only if I rely on the fact that I have to get a heroic victory in just about every single battle. The ability to reinforce is non-existant and every 5-6 turns or so all the enemies throw fully loaded armies at me. I wipe them out and 5-6 turns later they're there again. If I make this too long nobody will read it, so in short does anyone know how to make it so that you can have a fair economy that actually supports armies, or has anyone made or is anyone working on a mod that makes this very otherwise well-made mod fun to play? And if not can someone direct me to where this information might be. Thanks alot.

    Maybe I'll say something silly but what about giving more money to human player for diplomatic agreements ?
    Say your alliance/trade agreement each give +xxx per turn, you'll probably try to maintain a net of allies/trade and try to help them if they're going to fall (1 less faction = -xxx).

    Two things really help, I find. First, move your capital to the center of your empire. Second, let your armies support themselves by sacking and then selling provinces you don't need. Early in the game, I send out half-stacks in different directions to take rebel settlements. Some I keep, but some/most I sell to interested factions for either a hefty sum in cash or a tribute to supplement my income. By the time I encounter real enemies, I have at least one full stack to do the same, bought using the same money from plunder and selling. I'm still short every once in a while but it gets better quickly because I only keep a core empire for myself which is heavily developed while I sell the rest. In my last game as silvan elves, I pretty much sold all of Rhun to Dale in exchange for much cash and one or two settlements to round off my empire.
