Of course it isNo offence to CA and Sega but vanilla sucks
At least when you have tried mods like this or SS etc.![]()
Mods are supposed to make Vannila better, and TATW makes vanilla truly magnificent.

Agreed! TATW is the most awesome mod ever.. only waiting to see if Broken Crescent 3.0 can match the same high quality and level of fun when it comes out.
Though, Rome resurectum (or whatever) could be fun as well. Not for sure if this is the case, cause I haven't tried it yet.
Well, and it's not just that TATW is better, which it is -- and VERY different than vanilla I might add. But a key factor is that TATW is still improving and evolving, whereas vanilla remains static. People have played vanilla, and gotten bored with it. Since there is nothing new to be found there, people look for new, fresh ways to play a game that they love. TATW is one of the higher quality options out there, though there are many. It's a winning recipe, everything that King Kong and other modders have done to improve a quite good base game, and the amazing world created by Tolkien in a single package. And it only continues to get better....
It makes for happy.
Edit - I'm holding out to play until the new settlements are released, but I must say, I'm itching to play this mod again. I haven't played it since its earliest revisions.

Same as marceror.
I wouldn't understand why would anyone bother with vanilla after finishing (or even not) one campaign.
While this! This is pure epiiiiic! I would gladly pay for each update as much as for vanilla.
And I too hold out until new settlements. Last time I played was when Arnor came out.![]()
I mostly played version 1.0, and just a little bit with 1.1. I sort of forgot about M2 with the release of ETW and then NTW (not to mention Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age, and a few others... and also not to mention a brutally busy RL). So it's been a while for me, and man has this mod evolved since then. The stuff it has now was just rumor, and idle fancy back in the day. I'm ready for another go, probably as Gondor, but we'll see.
Lol, go with Arnor For Teh Win ;p
Seriously, it's like most avesome faction ever made.
(Eriador becomes it if you meat right goals.)
Edit: lol meet, not meat.
Edit2: I added commentary instead of correcting it becouse it's funny.
And based on the amount of enemy "meat" that you will have to tear into to achieve that goal, it's not completely inappropriate to say it that way!![]()
Hahah, yeah.
It would be even better if "meat" could be used as verb similar too "butcher".![]()
It might be surprising to some of you, but many people who visit these forums play mainly vanilla and rarely (if at all) touch mods. Weird, huh?
They are just ignorant.
Someone go and spam vanilla forums with TA and SS links. ; p
Try a VH/VH campaign with Gondor or Rohan.....
Yes Roma Surrectum is awesome, but we're at the M2TW forums here....

I almost never even tried vanilla campaigns: vanilla versions are historically inaccurate, hollwood-styled, unbalanced or boring. I like historical mods that can fix those flaws, and total conversions for a totally new game experience. This goes for RTW, MTW and M2TW as well.
We have to recognize that TW games are mostly better "modders' playgrounds" than stand-alone games.
I got to defend vanilla here. They did a great job in a deeper aspect of the game, i.e. the way shield and armor works, shields protecting the left flank and front only etc., things that we take as granted now. And those are the things that can't exactly be fixed by modding afaik, since it's part of the engine.
