Default Keeping the family alive away from home...

Quick question guys. Struggling keeping my dynasty going. I've killed off several of my generals outside of the family and have accepted no marriages from generals outside of the family. I have four family members (male) left and 17 settlements. My two best generals (my king and my prince) have not been offered a female for marriage and they are 47 and 42 respectively. Do they need to be in a town/closer to the capitol to be offered marriage?

Conquer more regions. There is a hardcoded family member to regions controlled ratio.

When your FM get past a certain age even if you have less FM then regions under your control it seems to take awhile to get a marriage offer and certain traits make it even less likely.

Easiest solution is to send a diplomat to find a princess and propose marriage to your king or heir- as long as there are no negative traits they should produce children if you remain below the FM/region ratio.

But if he has only 4 family members and 17 settlements, then general-per-settlement-ratio shouldn't be a problem in his case ?

Technically not, but perhaps he has none-family generals?

Nope. I literally only have 4 generals. I keep getting offered husbands for my ladies, but NO marriage proposals for my king or faction heir. I'm about to try to get another faction to gimme their princesses.

sometimes u just get screwed, on my CS campaign right now i got my king (1 general) and my prince (1 other general so 2 total now) and 25 provinces and no marriage proposals happening. I got like 3 diplomat guys searching for a suitable princess right now...luckly my prince is only like 18 so its not that big a deal but it is crazy. And my two princess don't get any offers, only adopted usurpers which i deny.

oh and no being away from home doesn't seem to affect marriages etc etc...tho u can get the outlander adultress which reduces chances for kids slightly.

absolutely nothing...some people (i.e. like me) just choose to try to maintain a pure family blood line "of insert ur faction here blood" in the traits part purely as a role playing aspect. However if u do adopt too many and don't expand fast enough u can stop having children which becomes annoying.

Thanks Losthief. Guess I'll just keep trucking on... on a related note, to start a new dynasty do I just have to make an adopted general king, then one of his kids?

Haha Espadas it's funny you mention that. I had to use that cheat just to get my current king to be born! But unfortunately, neither of them are married (that's the problem!) so that cheat won't work.

Just for reference here, guys, my problem is NOT city/castle to general ratio. I am offered an adoption for my youngest general EVERY TURN. I now have 21 settlements, and 4 generals. I want him to get married so he can continue the bloodline. I have not had a general offered marriage since the first few turns of the game. Only adoptions offered.
