    Default A problem with sieges

I have played EB for many years now and have really enjoyed this mod. But in my latest campaign as the Seleucid Empire I have ran into a major problem. During siege battles the AI has problems getting its ladders to the walls. It will stop the ladders just short of the walls and wait, sometimes for hours before it moves its ladders to the walls. This is particularly a problem when the AI attacks the city at a diagonal direction rather than when it marches straight at the walls. Also I am having the problem when I have large or huge stone walls the siege towers will reach the wall but the AI solders will not be able to climb into the tower.

I am guessing these are both bugs in the RTW engine and don’t have anything to do with EB, but I don’t remember this being a major problem before, it would happen on a rear occasion in RTW and EB but now it happens almost every siege battle. It has reached the point when the AI never really attacks the walls and I win because the time runs out. This is a major problem killing off the fun of this great mod.

I am asking to see if there is any way of fixing this problem. Is there a way to make sure the AI attacks the city in a straight direction rather than at a diagonal direction? Would installing EB so it works on BI or Alexander rather than RTW fix this issue?

Your best bet is to reinstall RTW and EB. Sometimes such glitches pile up with time and suddenly the game doesn't work anymore.

Move your saved games and uninstall/reinstall RTW&EB, then replace your saved games.

I have reinstalled both on several occasions but the problem remains. Could the save file itself be the problem allowing the fault to be passed from one copy of the game to the next. I hope not as this campaign has been one of my favorite campaigns.

Is there anything else I can try?

Sometimes saved games get corrupt. That's why I make a new save game every few in-game years.

I think it's just a RTW problem, I rarely get it using BI.exe, which might help but I don't know.

One thing I can suggest is not to build the biggest walls as they do seem to be more buggy, I just build the first level of stone walls.
