Any Mad Men fans here? I just got into the series, watched seasons 1 through 3 over the last month or so, started Season 4 a few days ago. It's an amazing show and the 60s environment is very well done.
-The men smoke, drink, and cheat on a regular basis
    -Don Draper is freaking badass

    Any favourite characters?

It's a great show. Unfortunately it doesn't have a massive fan base, for some odd reason, but it gets such high praise from critics and wins awards that it's going to keep going. Good!

I've become an expert and performing the Don Draper, "What?" Son-of-a-, the Youtube video of Draper saying it a thousand times has been taken down! Basically you take a puff of a cigarette and as you're blowing out the smoke you say "What?" with a half-questioning, half-offended face. Roger Sterling is great. Oh, and one of the best things about the show are the women. Not only are they insanely attractive, but they all seem to have a sexuality that isn't pretentious like a lot of women have today. The show is, and I know many will not like what I say here but it's true, better than The Walking Dead.

Well, all the women except Peggy, but she's technically a man for the purposes of the show.

As far as characters go, Draper is great. Jon Hamm is definitely one of the top leads. Every episode has a climax where I want to hug him for being the man and a low point where I want to knock him around a bit for being such a screw up. You care about him that way.

I like Pete because he's such a scummy son of a . You just feel awful for his wife, he's such a pathetic human being. He sucks up to everyone else and just bashes her constantly. Hate him to death but good acting.

Sterling is the only guy I actually like consistently. He's not a saint either but at least he seems to be smart about making bad choices.

    Those are my standouts.

Agreed, he plays the sycophant so well. Also he has a lot of entertaining scenes. Like the dance, or "hells bells Trudy!", etc.

Joan is also a great character, she has the sex appeal but she's one of the few upright people in an office of backstabbers and double-crossing. Opposite of what I thought her character would develop into.

Yeah, me to but there's nothing gay about that, I don't think even think the pope would say no.

This, I think is the most hilarious thing I've read all week.

Anyway, my mum is hooked on this show. I'm giving her the third season for Christmas...she has the two previous already. I figure I'll get through them eventually.

Don and that woman huh.... I agree with what Joan said about how she's like a 25 year old secretary.

It's Roger and Jane all over again, except Don will probably cheat in even less time.

As for the show, meh. I watched a few episodes and dropped off.

The only reason to watch this show is to see Christina Hendricks.

I understand that it is a very good reason though!

Holy monkey balls, she is too attractive. Like I said, the women of Mad Men are incredible. Whatever happened to that young blond Draper was going out with? She was hot and seemed to be a good fit for Draper. And then he randomly chose his new secretary. My friend and I screamed when he proposed to her. It was the ultimate WTF?!?!?!

My bad. Well, you should have at least thought Draper would be unstable with women anyway. I mean, it's Don-ing-Draper!

Seriously, you asked for it starting a Mad Men thread before you've caught up.

But yes, that was definitely unexpected and kind of weird. The whole season left it a little ambiguous with whom he would end up at the finale, but the marriage proposal came out of nowhere.

I recently finished season four and here are some thoughts
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
My deepest wish is that Betty gets hit by a train and dies since she's a really awful mother and acts like a little girl all the time. I mean I can't stand how that god damn is ruining Sally's childhood .I also think that's the reason Don proposed to his secretary seeing what a good mother she would be to his children, A test which the psychologist gal failed spectacularly.

Besides I think he's trying to change from his alcoholic womanising self seeing how he realised how bad it was when he lost two days to a blackout after his award. I doubt it will last long though but I honestly wonder how any guy could be faithful if beautiful women wants to sleep with oneself all the time.

One thing that also surprised me was Pryces crazy father juts threw he down on the floor and told him what to do, it was kinda sad seeing that happen seeing how Pryce is a really likeable character. Henry also seems to be a pretty nice guy but I wonder how he can live with that crazy  Betty. Another character I don't really like though is Pete seeing how he keeps being an arrogant prick but he's not forcing himself on au pairs though.
