All of them work the same way.
There are 2 ways to skip vista BS:-
- Well first the easy one. Install the game outside program files folder in some other drive say D:\ etc or C:\xyz folder. After that install any mod inside it and you will not have any trouble from vista.
- Second is you make sure you have administrator rights and install the mod using that and before that you turn-off UAC(User Accounts control) via control panel. After install any mod in the default path that is C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval 2 Total War.
Hope this helps.![]()
Someone mentioned that it was better to install the DVD version for Mods rather than downloading and installing M2TW from Steam. Just curious, why are Mods easier to install using the DVD version?
Is it really that simple? I've never been able to download a Mod, but now I'm very eagre to try this. But which one should I do?
For installing mods on steam use this and your problem will be solved.
Not quite sure what you meant?![]()
I've been using Vista for over a year and have been able to download SS, TATW, SV, Custom Campaign, Thera, a couple others and a few RTW Mods. I've been able to download and install most mods without a problem, however, once installed, Vista is horrible at running them, crashes are constant, and you get that *Not Responding* error every couple of minutes. Simple solution: ditch Vista, i changed to Windows 7 today.
Vista is a DirectX 10 OS while Windows 7 is a DX11 OS(Operating system).
This game is based on DX9.0 that XP has although Vista & 7 are also compatible one must make sure that his\her DX9.0c drivers are up to date on them. I last updated my DX9 drivers in july 2010 it improved my performance by 2%-8% on DX9 games.
DX9 problems causes the most weird crash\CTD that is when the battle is over and we come back to strat map it crashes without giving any traceable errors, that is a DX9 driver issue.![]()
