I need some help

So for a long time now ive been playing m2tw, rtw, and tatw with no problems and everything has always ran smooth. Now all of a sudden when i move a character or army they lag bad when they move and its slow and annoying. the battles dont lag its just the campaign map. i havnt done anything different to my laptop so if any1 has any ideas as to why this is happening they would be appreciated.

Have you opened your laptop and blown out the dirt, etc. with a can of air?

When was the last time you ran disk cleanup and defragged your harddrive?

Have you shut down the programs running in the background?

i never have other programs running and i have done a disc cleanup and defragment twice in the last week..
i haven't added any new programs to my laptop and havnt done anything out of the ordinary so i dont know why its acting like this all of a sudden..and the disc isnt scratched

Check your temps and voltages, then. It could be hardware related.

im almost positive its not the hard drive bc this is a fairly new laptop and it never over heats

You can search here with another player saying the same thing. He ran his temps and was buying a cooling pad for it the next day.

It's actually a lot more common than you'd think, even with a good PC. I had to get a pad myself because being in a small room and trying to run some of the newer games will shut my PC down pretty quick sometimes. No problems or slowdowns running it, but it will overheat. Wouldn't hurt to check it out.

OK. So it's a relatively new laptop that doesn't overheat - as you say. You've had no problems until recently. Do you have a good anti-virus program running on that system? Did you (possibly) go to somewhat dodgy website in recent memory? In short, have you run a good anti-virus scan recently? Good luck!

I do have a good anti virus that runs test frequently..theres nothing wrong with my laptop performance wise for anything else..everything is just normal except for the lagging of the campaign map when i play any total war games..maybe ill try a cooling pad
