Default Some factions just cant hold their own?

Ok sure, im in about 90 turns?

And im England, so naturally I killed the Scots (Happily decimated the last city)

Then I went onto the main land, blasted the french, made friends with the Romans and etc etc.

Much later about in turn 70, I was wondering where the lovely Holy Roman Empire was, and why I was friendless when Genoa, Aragon (the yellow city), the French, Norweignians all decided they hated me and started hitting all my cities.

Then i decided to "toggle_fow" to see how the world was and alot of factions died out! The biggest shock was The Holy Roman Empire. All my allies died out and i was left struggling with 4 enemies on all fronts.

I mean I would understand if the Two-Towned Teutons died but The Holy Roman Empire? That just dont make sense. Is this a bug or its just natural or is it scripted?

Btw, the Roman Empire had a very large empire too

In most games, the HRE end up in wars with most of their neighbors. They are in a really tough starting position so there isn't really much you can do about it. They can be over aggressive but it's not always them starting the wars. I have however seen them hold their own in many games. In my current game for example they have wiped out Denmark with the help of Norway and are really starting to beat the crap out of the French. The TO survive because they are emergent so they get lots of reinforcements.

Also, you get a big fat notice when a faction is ended, so I'm surprised at your surprise.
The game development business is one of bottomless greed, pitiless cruelty, venal treachery, rampant competition, low politics and boundless personal ambition. New game series are rising, and others are starting their long slide into obscurity and defeat.

You get this event when some faction is destroyed did you not see it?

I think that HRE need some upgrade with their politics ,mod after mod authors make same mistake with HRE.

It is very easy to fix it because it is not hardcoded.Remove Frankfurt as a crusade target (also other Catholics faction cities) and make more friendly politics with Papacy.Bad politics agains Papacy make Pope very agressive versus HRE and they are very quickly destroyed in almost all games by neighbour nations. It is only a game ,historically Emperor have same or similar power like Pope.

One more thing that make me nervous is AI playing as a Turks it is same situation like in Third Age with Dwarves, they cannot beat Roman Empire at early era because of Scoutatoi and other overpowered Byzzies units. In random battle (autoresolve) Byzzies have great advantage versus Turks and wipe them out

The HRE definitely is in need of a boost when being played by the AI.

The problem with the HRE is that you need to be good at diplomacy to survive in that starting position and the AI aren't. I'v always found that it is because they are so powerful that they get defeated. They make war with a few factions because they can and then they get excommunicated and everyone turns on them. If the AI knew how to maintain war on only one or two fronts they'd be fine. No amount of sooping them up will save them. I dont see how this can be changed.

Im quite happy when factions die, that means someone else just got more powerful. In my campains if HRE hold out they become a powerhouse if not france normally does. Spain for example with, castiel, aragorn, portugal and the moors all fighting for that small piece of land all you end up with is four weak factions that can be steam rolled over. IMO

OK Faction must die but HRE doing this very often that's why sth is wrong here.

It is possible make HRE as a reemerging faction after they are destroyed ?

    Hmmmm

The HRE have held their own in most of my campaigns and theyve always gotten owned by meh... So far Ive never seen them getting pwned by another faction.

Once I was plehing with the Romans/Byzantines (whatever) and they got excommunicated and marched on Italy razing everything...

Mebbe Norway or Scotland need nerfiing up...

the fact that factions die out is something i really like about SS 6.3. if your faction doesn't have much presence in an area, after several dozen turns you'll see massive changes. in one campaign, i saw the HRE destroyed by the french, Genoans, Venetians, Polish, and Danes. I saw Norway take Paris, The Turks destroyed, the Fatimids and Kwarezmians and Hungarians eat the Romans, and the Novgorodians take over the previously dominant lithuanians, etc. I like AI factions destroying AI factions. otherwise its just you doing important things, which is quite boring.

I quite agree with Asterix' point. Except for when it comes to the Holy Roman Empire. They can do really good, but they too easily looses it all again, in my opinion.
