Is there a fix for the princesses not greying out when dying?

Hi forum, my first post..

I have looked everywhere on google, but cant find any solution. If anyone could help me that would be great!

It really bugs me that when one of your diplomatic princesses dies, they do not get greyed out on your family tree, I must have ocd or something! does anyone know of anyway to fix this please?

I think all the characters get grayed out when they die. You must be confusing it when the princess reaches like 40-45 and is not married they are sent to a monastery so that's why there portrait still remains colored.
Have you patched your game to v1.2 or above?

I got the game with the kingdoms expansion, so I believe it is patched to the latest available 1.3

And they definately do not grey out when they die on my game, here is a pic i just found on google image search to show what I mean, note all the diplomatic princesses are not visualy dead!

I know it does not affect gameplay, but it really does bug my bum! I find myself letting them all pass child bearing age.... sad I know!

I really hate to burst your bubble but the latest patch is 1.5 But otherwise, what Ishan said holds true, you may just be mistaking nunhood for death (though they are equally damaging to one's lovelife. )

But does the picture in the link I posted earlier not clearly show the diplomatic princesses not greyed out after death? It seems that way to me, thats what its like on my family trees when I play.

with nunhood they just dissapear altogether right? maybe me game is bent

1.5 = latest patch for kingdoms.

1.3 = latest patch for medieval 2.

Thanks, I have got the latest patch for Med II then, guess there is no way of fixing this problem then.

I have been browsing the net again today, to try and fix my problem. I def have the latest patch fot TW2 as I tried to download the 1.2 patch which states in its fixes "Princess character now greyed out upon death on Family tree" which is exactly what I need!

On trying to install patch 1.2 it wont let me, as it says I already have 1.3.

I have the Gold edition with kingdoms, so If I uninstall the game and reinstall it, it will again install 1.3 automatically.

Is there anyway for me to install the 1.2 patch on my Gold version of TW2?

Any ideas appreciated, thanks!

Maybe I'm missing something here but shouldn't you apply the 1.5 patch since you have kingdoms gold? That is the copy and patch I have and I don't remember immortal princess portraits.

There is one last thing that you can try it should work according to me. Unpack the game verify the dead princess portraits in this location:-
M2TW\data\ui\southern_european\portraits\portraits\dead\princesses

After that launch the game with IO command in your config file and see it that fixes the problem:-

I unpacked the files Ishan, when I go to the file you said, it lists lots of files e.g. 000.tga, 001.tga, 002.tga etc.

Is that part correct?

I am having trouble working out how to launch the game with IO command in my config file?

I downloaded a program so i could view the tga files, and all the dead princess pics are indeed in the princesses file...

I think I found it, the medieval2.preference.cfg file? I am trying it now.. fingers crossed!

No joy Ishan! It did not fix it ...

I have used only patch 1.2 and upgraded my game to version 1.02. I can say it did not fixed the problem with the dead princess or dead queen portraits.

In my current Scottish campaign I have the same, but it's with Cecilia (starting princes of England)
With you it's the starting princess of France, so maybe there's the problem

With me it occurs with every faction (with princesses), and not just the starting ones but all of them...

I know its only something small, but it really does bug the hell out of me! just been googling for a fix again, apparently they did grey out before any patches were realeased, Im trying to find out how to edit the family tree files myself to fix this, but im a noob boob at that!

Same with me. I'm having fully patched kingdoms (with a mod), but they dead princesses wont grey out. It even says under their portrait: Died peacefully 1XXX AD

It is clear that our foreign princesses all became vampiressses after their natural and peaceful deaths. You may want to request the pope to send vampire hunters.

it is easy! go into sega/MedievalII/data/ui/southern_european/portraits/young copy the princesses folder then back track to sega/medievalII/data/ui/southern_european/portraits now go into the "dead" folder & paste & overwrite

Thanks! I just tried that, then quickly skipped through game turns until my princess died... she is still not greyed out
