Well, they were supposedly recuited as mercenaries by the amazons, but considering it is likely that the amazons didn't exist it is also very unlikely they truely fought in any trojan war which might have happened in history. I decided to include them anyway because they sound scary and add a nice change from the greek or eastern units that feature in TroyTW. It was the brainchild of 'the sword of cao cao'

I'm not sure when it will be finished, there is still code to be done and then bugs to be corrected with units amoung other things. When it is released i shall post compilation pictures of the several hundred units i did for TTW

    Of course!

In general hoplites are easy, especially if you use stuff from RTW but i am very happy with this unit because it is custom made.

Most of those are made specifically for mods, so you'll have to wait for them to be released. Others can be downloaded on Troy's website: http://troytw.com/downloads.shtml

The hoplite is, broadly speaking, accurate, if somewhat idealised. I doubt that you'd see very many hoplites dressed like this on the battlefield, but it couldn't be ruled out. The muscled cuirass is very Hellenistic, and the stylised Corinthian helmet with the massive plume is again a rather more fanciful piece of Hellenistic equipment, probably more for show than practicality. The greaves (which are tied at the back, rather than just being shaped in such a way as to cling to the shin) and the pteryges also suggest Hellenistic armour. It's altogether rather similar to the late Gothic style armour of knights - it was used, but more as a fashion statement than for actual practicality. The old-fashioned large aspis (shield) doesn't really fit with the armour, but the combination is not impossible.

It's not exactly grittily accurate then, but it's not anywhere near the realms of RTW style fantasy.
