Why does my comp run Napolean so much better than empire?

I don't understand. I play empire with 7-10 fps's. With Napolean i got 12-13 fps. Is the game just better at using all the ram the comp has or something?

NTW makes better use of multi-core CPUs.

I think they may have optimized the game engine a bit.

What I'd like to know is why my computer runs Napoleon about twice as slow as Empire. I've never managed to find that out. :/

depends on your CPU setup, I suppose (but irishron knows more on this than I do). If, for instance, you have a really zippy single core or dual, you may not be getting as much performance bang for buck out of NTW as ETW (even though NTW mostly uses 2 cores, it does take some advantage of 4). I could see ETW running better than NTW on a zippy single or dual.

I could be wrong.

Empire will run better on a single core. Napoleon was released "optimized" for at least dual core.

Negative sir, ETW and NTW runs great on Quad, but poor on Single, with Dual runs only great with Intel D e 8400+.
