I am past the date that I was supposed to complete the objective of the first campaign. Is a fail message supposed to appear?

I haven't completed a game of Total War in like 4 years. I have over 200 hours in ETW and never finished a campaign, I always get bored and start a new faction before I finish or ignore objectives.

I would say test it and let us know

I almost never finish a campaign either, especially in empire.

If I remember correctly no fail msg will appear - the campaign just continues in the same way as you can continue playing your campaign if you complete objective within the time allowed and get the victory msg.

In sometime it should appear, that some faction should win it. But maybe other factions dont have their victory conditions yet or whatever

Which campaign are you talking about, the Italian Campaign? What level are you playing on? The time will keep going, you just don't get the Accomplishment for finishing if the Achievement says to complete within historic time. If the Achievement just says to win, then I think you can still pick it up by completing the objectives.
Don't blame me, I voted for Pedro!

you never get a mission failed, it keeps going as if you actually finished it. Though I admit I've only finished a campaign twice in empire, once in medieval and three times in rome. I find i lose interest once my empire gets so big...but for some reason in rome i was very content to wipe everything off the map.

I really wish you would get things like rebellions, civil wars, proper wars of succession, basic day to day things like riots to freshen the campaign up. After you have a big empire you just steamroll everything without worrying about the homefront, I wish they did more with the homefront.

I miss playing medieval or rome and just spending turns building infrastructure and positioning troops to guard against raids and of course my daily "army practice" of sacking Jerusalem as it always tended to rebel but kept my troops sharp and something to fight ever so often.

In my latest GB campaign I actually managed to get world peace and it was sooooo horrible......I had already built everything up and there was nothing to do........so I quit and started up another campaign. Thats why I always play a status quo campaign where I never completely destroy factions so they give me fights every couple of years

I have never finished any campaign at all. And I do not conquer like madman, I like strategic game with roleplay. So now I have plans to use same way like Napoleon wanted to walk. I have plans to start manipulating with trade and destroy englishmen so. And I use my Grande Armee to force all countries over europe to accept my plans.

Everytime when I start campaign something ruins my playing mood. Like some minutes ago I finished very huge modding work in one pack, all changes works perfectly but not prussian line infantry ones.So I decided to quit game for about 2 months.

Well, this just happened to me, and it does indeed give you a big, fat 'Fail' message.
A window popped up saying 'DEFEAT' and I thought it only offered you the option to Return To Main Menu, but once I clicked that, it simply let me continue playing.

    So...there it is...for what it's worth.
Your reality sir, is lies and balderdash, and I'm happy to say that I have no grasp of it whatsoever!
