LT, have you changed the AI in 5 as opposed to the earlier releases? It seems to be a lot more intelligent, particularly in its use of flanking any defensive lines I put in place.

Well AI is hardcoded, but what I do is manipulate the AI to do what I want. lol Yes the AI is adjusted for battlefield behavior, 6.0 will be even more.
Lt
now that is good news, AI in 5 is noticibly more intelligent.
I also notice that all the Greek phalanxmen have been issued with little motor-scooters to get around the battlefield![]()

by the by, I've noticed the AI seems to be a lot less agressive in 5, is this deliberate or just a fluke?

I too have also noticed the A.I is less aggressive in 5. This is most notable with the Gaul’s I don’t know about Tactical but in my Brutii campaign the Julii have made significant gains in Gallic territory with no help from myself.
The only other thing I have noticed is the A.I does not know how to move a phalanx army in straight line. More often then not they turn exposing their flanks to arrow and sling missiles. But I guess this is battlefield A.I which is hardcoded.
I have a feeling that there are a lot more rebels around which is hindering AI expansion?
and yes, phalanx movement seems to be different but I'm finding the effect is that they are moving to flank my shieldwalls rather than attacking head on.

I believe that since the AI is more intelligent they are able to 'consider' and 'guess' when and where to move as opposed to the 4.0 AI, which was good, that ran right through anything it saw.

LT has also give the sword hoplites jetpacks, the speed those boys move round the battlefield is frightening

Movement is the same, no adjustment there, you must be playing RTR and then playing SPQR will make it seem faster. They use slower movement than I do.
The AI is agressive, but NOT if you OUTNUMBER them. remember that if your attacking alot of small armies they wont attack as much. But in 6.0 They attack even more than before because of the patch.
Lt
actually that makes sense, I'm playing vanilla (Britain) with my 5 year old - ah the joys of attacking 4 units of rebels with 6 war dogs........Originally Posted by lt1956
I think it could be that I wiped out the initial greek armies and their generals, I notice that troops seem to remain split into small units unless they have a general to merge with.Originally Posted by lt1956
anyway, Macedonians have suddenly become very aggressive, 5 stacks have suddenly turned up, ho hum....
