Generals dont get better stats

I always do battles with my generals. Specially faction heirs. But they never pass 3 of command. Why? In vanilla was eazy building a great general, here it's impossible. I only get general with 5 of comand when he's faction leader. Otherwise no matter what i try they don't get more! How can i change this? Is there any secret way or something to increase their command?


Also, is there a way to pot speeches back on? I miss the speeches of the generals.

I think its because of BGR, the Zeal factor.
I guess u have a large empire.
I think (but correct me if im wrong) u cannot really get a better general anymore, in this way the game wants to balance itself. Small factions, with great generals, large factions with weaker, to compensate

i don't have BGR on. My empire is 1 castle and 2 towns. And bieng small better generals is surelly not true.

You should look for constant heroic victories all the way. Strenght ratio 1:2 is an absolute minimum. Best way to turn your general into real war deamon is to achieve MORE than one heroic victory in ONE turn.

HINT: maximize the effect of Crusade or Jihad, no matter if you're the one defending or attacking

Wow. more then 1 heroic victory?! I barelly do one! If the ratio is like 4:7 i will probably lose. I'm Portugal and the moorish are hitting me hard while i only have spear militia and some mercenaries.

Ohhhh yeah I know that frustration. I'm playing as Aragon and early game the Moors were really tough to deal with. Your early archers are garbage, and without a decent ranged unit, enemy horse archer and horse-javelin jerks are way strong.

Just defend against them for now. Your biggest strength as most of the Iberian countries early game is nice early heavy cav. Javelin-horses are so damned effective against this. I'd say expand in a different direction? Battle your European rivals for now, as their troops are more easily dealt with with your arsenal. Once you have some solid archers/crossbows, or any other units which can deal with Moorish armies, then you can feel free to expand through Africa.



But I agree that it feels hard to get high-command generals. I even struggle to get high dread! One of my family members at the moment has probably personally executed upwards of 1000 prisoners himself. Still only 2 dread skulls, T_T;

I'm also in early. Right now i have Porto, Lisbon, Silves and Seville. What i wan't is cordoba! It will give me a huge advantage agaisn't moors. But they are bloody tough!

Play as the Turks and their mass horse archers, you will get heroic victories constantly :p

yep, you need heroic's and not 'just' clear victories. with BGR it can be a real struggle to get anything past 4 or 5 star - even military geniuses tend to go ga-ga the following turn :/
