Freeze On Quit. Any Suggestion?

Game was running fine. No problems. For reasons that I don't need to take up space here getting into, I un-installed ETW. Later I dnlded and re-installed and the game would launch and play OK but upon hitting quit or Exit To Windows it would freeze the computer. I had to force shut down the computer. Un-installed. Dnlded and re-installed again and the same thing happens.

Anyone, got any ideas what is happening here? How to resolve this?

Also, I thought upon first launch after install the preferences file was supposed to self populate in: C:\Users\acer\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Empire\scripts

This does not happen. C:\Users\acer\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Empire\scripts is empty.

Where, in what folder, is Steam installed?

Also, did you install ETW in the Steam folder and if you did then what mods are you using?

He solved it by getting a new preferences file from a friend since his was not auto generating.
