Default Diplomat + Other agent effects?

I guess we all know what diplomats and princesses can do in terms of interaction.

But what about when they are static? I frequently see my enemies diplomats at my doorsteps, extending their hand. (But no interaction menu comes up)

Does it reduce loyalty in a country and force rebellions? Cos i swear there was a rebellion once.

Donīt know about rebellions, but I have heard that they are trying to bribe the settlement when they do that.
And that they decrease loyalty slightly when they do like that.
But they rarely make any noticeable impact, and only EXTREMELY rarely do they actually manage to bribe your settlement.
Other than that, itīs just annoying, as far as I know...

They are probably trying to open a diplomatic negotiations with you, but didn't because they intended to ask you to pay for something that costs more than you had in your treasury. To test this, do not spend on anything and just skip one turn ahead. It has happened to me a couple of times.

They are also doing it when you have enough money. They are trying to bribe you or fail to open negotiations. The bad thing is that your relation with faction will suffer. Y
Officer to a soldier who refuses to fight: There three types of soldiers who don't have to fight. They are called KIA, MIA and POW and you are not one of them.

    Tosa will be missed.

Thank you for explaining this one. In my currernt game as HRE the Russians have a diplomat at one of my border towns and they've been doing that every turn for the past six turns or so...that explains why relations are dropping with them.

It happens and it is very annoying. What happened to me sometimes is that a few times after a diplomat does that without the menu coming up I got attacked by the faction in question (mainly if they were a neighbouring faction). Ohh, and it happened with plenty of rebel cities around so...I usually try to either bribe or assassinate them.

I'm certain enemy or hostile neutral diplomats cause rebellions. They often flock to newly conquered territory - not just the players. In M1TW you could see a loyalty drop in the territory from diplomats - from priests as well.

Curiously, when a diplomat arrives at a settlement sometimes I see the amount of florins for the city change. It goes up or down just by 1 florin, I think. I've never managed to catch a before/after situation.

I'm also wondering about diplomats hanging around other factions. Are they trying to get other factions to attack me? Does the diplomacy run with them as it does for the player? Anyone know?
