CTD after destroying faction

Hi all!

Been a lurker for a little bit now, and this site is fantastic! Alas, a technical issue has come up, but in a way that is a good thing since that's forced me to stop being lazy and join the community!

Here we go...
First off, I'm playing with Kingdoms and all the up to date patches, and the Lands to Conquer Gold mod. It is year 1110 and I'm HRE. I've backed Denmark down to Stockholm with both their Faction Leader and Heir inside. No matter how I win the battle, (fight it out, auto resolve, or cheating with auto resolve,) afterwards, it gives me the message about a new king being crowned, and I choose the fate of Stockholm. No matter what I pick, the game then crashes to desktop with the unspecified error message. I've tried everything I can think of...waited a few turns, tried moving the Danes' generals around...no luck. To test, I moved an army near Ajaccio which is Milan's last settlement, and got the same thing...CTD while picking the fate of the settlement.

I was playing Vanilla for awhile and had no problems with this, but it seems now with this game in LTC when a faction is destroyed the game crashes. I'm not sure if this should be a mod question or what, but I'm out of ideas. Did a lot of messing around and online searching to try and fix this myself but have only seen people having similar issues but no answers. I suppose I could attempt a reinstall and whatnot, but that's a whole lot of work if someone here knows of a workaround...not to mention the disgust I would have if I did that and it still didn't work

I apologize if this has already been addressed elsewhere as I have done some searching even here but there is a lot of pages! Any help on this would be very helpful and I would be thankful.

Thought this might help...I have a good laptop and nvida card so I don't think that's an issue...but having windows vista might.

It's not you or your laptop. It's the game. I am having the same problem in my mod. So far I have not found the trait or traits making it crash. This is more a mod question than a technical question but either way, welcome to thhe forums.

. Thanks for confirming it's the mod also. I suppose I'll try a fresh install and see how that goes...I really can't think of anything else.

Well I did fresh install. Copied my savegames and deleted all of M2 and did a total new install. Got the Kingdoms patch, then LTC. Auto resolved against the Danes and no problem, took them over and faction destroyed. What a headache, huh?

At least it is working. My only guess is that something during the install of something must have been off. I think I'll be backing up my savegames again...just hope this bug stays down. It'll get old if the next faction I try to kill does that too!
