    Default Vassalage?

Quick question about vassalage. Playing as the Romans early era M/M, i managed a miracle in making Venice a vassal. They have a total of two regions. I decided to do this just for the heck of it (if i had tried a little harder i could have finished them). The next turn i went from a mere 10,000 florins (i'm a poor man, what can i say) to 50000 florins. each turn venice gave me approx 7,000 florins in tribute. what is the exact rules for how much money vassals pay? thanks.

The AI gets money boosts so half of that goes to you. I want to know how exactly did you get them to be a vassal, because I"m trying to vassalise Aragon as France when they have 1 province left, I'm 'trustworthy' and still they won't accept my vassalisation
    Null

for vassalage, you'd probably need 1-2 full stacks ready to attack them, Scots still had all three of their regions for me, but since I have two stacks on their doorstep, they accepted becoming my vassal

I don't think having full stacks of armies ready to attack them is always a convincing factor for the AI. I remember offering factions with 1 or 2 settlements left lots and LOTS of money, I mean the money can only achieved through cheat, laying siege to their settlements which almost had no units to provide a proper resistance and ask for vassalage, but they turned it down. I mean sometimes it's ridicilous to expect AI to be reasonable. BUT I could make some factions my vassal, when they had at least a full stack army and 2-3 settlements. How about that ?

Here's what I have experienced: If they turn your offer down, wait a couple of turns and try again. Then again until they finally yield. I don't know why but after some turns eventually they tend to accept it. Block all of their ports, lay siege to their settlements. Make sure they don't have some armies wandering around the map (AI does that sometimes, especially if a crusade is called and finished before they can get there). Then offer them lots of money turn after turn.

Then let us know the results

Beat them hard, really hard, and take an army on march is really a convincing factor. Venice accept vassalage because that, and because I release prisoniers, not killing them, saving my reputation. Same happend to Jerusalim. I not take it any region of them, but because good relation, and no hope they survive to my atacks, they accept the rule of basileus.
In comparison, I let Fattimids in 3 regions, turks lost more than half of empire, but will be harder to vasalige them.

thanks for the help. +rep. and i think your faction size is also taken into consideration-i doubt France with just French land will be able to get a vassal. thanks to the massive amount of money i get from it, i think i'm going to try and get more vassals.

There is also another problem with vassalage system:

If you at war with ally of nation you want to make vassal, you don't even get it as an option while negotiating terms. I had this situation many times. They would surrender but i can't offer my mercy...

I always try to make vassals at least 2 or more nations for 2 reasons: extra money and just to keep them alive

Also what is bugging' me the most is that when war comes (between me and my vassal ally) vassals often brake alliances with me. That happens even when I'm being attacked!

But to recompense cheats of AI I often use my Pope friend ally to excom other Christian nations
Let's just say don't you dare to stand 1 square next to Pope army after crusade Someone said once: choose your allies wisely
