    Default consulship

How is the consul trait given out?

in EB one of my generals gets selected consuls every once in awhile. and he's only consul for a year. I thought it was 4? and why only one? or is this how it was in the early republic, and it changes as time goes on? I always thought that there was always a consul.. like any other position of government. in EB I'll get a guy elected consul, he's consul for a year (about enough time to march to sicily) , and then I'm without a consul for several years..

how does the office feature in EB work?

Consuls were only appointed for a year. If it's not one of your characters assume a roman living in rome is consul. More likely generally.

I had a consul who spent his consulship getting chased (and chopped to pieces) around the mediterranean by that damn pirate fleet, Im sure that all the romans were mightlily impressed when he limped back to Rome having achieved nothing (those damn pirates saved Carthage and forced me to make them a protectorate....now their huge and Im too scared to attack them....yet).

On the question of offices is the pontifex maximus elected for life (I cannot remember from my high school days) or will my faction leader eventually lose this office before he dies?

I believe Caesar resigned the position of Pontifex Maximus. There is only 1 of them, so there's a chance of the faction leader getting it. I may add a few triggers to give him a chance to lose it or something later.

Pontifex Maximus was a lifetime position, although perhaps you could resign/be removed from it (not sure on that).

Rome always had two consuls, but they were changed up a lot, so mostly neither of them is going to be in your faction.

Ahh and what about censor...my faction leader has been censor for about three years now, does it have a trigger to remove it yet?

It should last 18 months. There was a bug with it not going away, I've fixed it now, but not sure if that fix made the OB.
