Cannot update BI to 1.6

I bought the Total War Battle Pack, which comes with Gold edition. But BI is NOT patched to 1.6, it is patched to 1.4. This has made it impossible for me to update BI because the 1.6 patch will not install on Gold Edition. I need a clear solution.

Can you update it to 1.5, then maybe try 1.6?

I've got the gold edition too, but haven't tried. I just assumed it was already 1.6; guess not.

Does it say in BI campaign's option page version 1.4?

yes it does. It says 1.4.

If in doubt, contact www.sega.com/support. They are the official support people for RTW and BI.

it's not. Sega support is useless. It will take me a long time to speak with someone who knows what he is talking about.

I have the old original discs and have not had this problem, so I am out of ideas.

Out of interest which version of RTW was on the original discs that you have? Did you patch it from there?

I am not sure what you mean by that. When I open BI it says it's v 1.4.

If you launch RTW look at the top right hand side of the options menu - that is the version number according to the game.

RTW will either be 1.0, 1.2, 1.3, 1.5 or 1.6.

RTW BI can be 1.4 or 1.7.

RTW Alex canonly be 1.9.

If your install had RTW patched to 1.5 then installing the original RTW BI (1.4) will result in RTW being downgraded from 1.5 to 1.3.....

I just got the Anthology set and installed RTW and BI. I used to have the Gold edition and it was patched to 1.6. However, when I just checked the RTW version it's 1.3. So should I patch up from 1.3? It doesn't make sense to me. Or should I clean it out and install just RTW and patch that up? I'm a bit confused about the patches.

Hi matey, it seems there's something 'iffy' about that Anthology version as I alluded to in this thread:

Where I enquired thus, but nobody replied:

"The Rome Anthology 3 disc set will probably be flying off the shelves this Christmas as pressies, treats etc. But is there a problem with the BI disc in the anthology set?

a) Install the rtw disc...all seems well with v1.5 displayed in the game options screen and uninstall programs in W7.
b) Install the BI disc....oddly the rtw options screen shows v1.3 yet v1.5 in uninstall programs, and BI shows v1.6 in game options yet v1.4 in uninstall programs.

Seems to me there's something dodgy with the BI disc? Anyone know what's what??"

Extra bit: I'm leaning towards the view that the 3 disc Anthology contains an older version of BI disc, than the BI disc available in the 2 disc Gold Edition

isn't 1.5v max for vanilla and 1.6 for BI?

I am asking what version RTW is and not RTW BI. RTW cannot be 1.4 as previously posted.

Do you want help? You certainly won't get it if you ignore what we ask.
