smooth battles and strat map, but SLOW menu and turns! help!

ok, this problem has been going on a while now, i first noticed it when playing ATW mod but i recently realised it happens on the origional RTW BI game (iv tried searching but cant find the exact same problem as mine). Also the game did work fine for years untill about six months ago....

basicly when i start the game video runs fine etc, then when im on the menu the background runs really smooth, BUT when i press an option like "single player" it freezes and takes about 30 secs to go to the next menu part. also when im playing the game the campaign map worsks smoothly and the battles, untill i end turn then it takes about 3 minutes to complete the cycle!? i have no idea what happened as it used to play fine.

i also play medieval total war 2 with kingdoms and the third age mod on pretty high graphics. so its not my graphics card that seems to be the problem, this is really bugging me now cos i really want to continue playing RTW BI. i have tried defagging and re installing the game but it had no effect.

so slow menu and turns even though the game and battles run perfectly...any ideas?? any hep is appreciated!, cheers

could be something wrong with your the cd your playing it off? When cd's get scratched they can do weird things.

It could be a hardware problem other than your graphics card. Some audio hardware does interfere with certain games. This is the same for hardware driver updates.

Try deleting all traces of the mod you used. It may be interfering with the vanilla files. Weirdly i had some problems after i installed TATW. Every time i changed settings in TATW it would change the settings in rtw to the same! Couldn't work that one out. Apparently its not possible.

hi thanks for the quick reply thats funny about TATW ,mods can do all sorts of crazy things

i have deleted all traces of the mod but no changes in performance unfortunatley

.i forgot to metion i have gold edition, and so i just checked the origional RTW not barbarian invasion and thats working slow as well, which makes me think its probably the CD i guess ill buy another and see how that goes lol, thanks

If you know someone else who has the game try installing that on your machine to check whether it is the Cd or not.

Also wait to see if you get any other replies.

haha yeah, no worries, ill check with my friends CD first... in the meantime though im still hoping theres a solution to this that doesnt require me getting a whole new copy
anyone got any suggestions?
