Default Need help to get things working

    - I can't start any campaign because every single Army I field gets bribed within 2 or 3 turns

    - For no apparent reason suddently half my cities have 200% plus unrest...

    - Every merchant I send out gets taken over after 2 turns....

Am I doing something completely wrong here?

all right, first thing- give us your difficulty. second, your armies getting bribed is probabbly because you lead them with captains-its smarter to lead with generals/FMs.
merchants require a lot of micro and i generally don't use them-expect them not to last too long.
for you cities, idk, maybe you have no garrison?

    Anthonius,

You need to tell us what version you are using, what sub mods you installed and as Asterix said' Your difficulty level'. It very much sounds to me like your using BGR

    Sounds like you're using BGR.
It is not at all recommended for anyone but very experienced players.
Also, download the Fixes if you haven't already (link in my signature)

No Sub Mods only StS 6.3.

Every Army that was bribed was led by a general - and they all had 4 or more loyalty points

Do you remember the exact options you toggled when running the SS_Setup?

You should not have that much unrest if you just started the game, and actually have people (Troops) in the settlements, and are your starting settlements (And thus the same religion and such).

EDIT: Oh, and list the Era you are playing in. I am going to boot up a Roman game and try and replicate your results with that impossible unrest.

    1. Which AI did you select? gracul AI is the more aggressive of the three.

    2. Which setting have you choosen? I myself play M/M and the game is quite challenging for me.

    3. Playing the Byzantines/Romans is going to be one of the more challenging factions to play because not matter which era you play they're going to get attention from both east and west.

    4. You must be playing the higher settings, because I never had any of my units bribed by the AI before...

Did you ever try the game as it plays out of the box?

There, the merchants always get taken over immediately - unless they come well trained from a guild.
The game development business is one of bottomless greed, pitiless cruelty, venal treachery, rampant competition, low politics and boundless personal ambition. New game series are rising, and others are starting their long slide into obscurity and defeat.

If you're new to SS, you might also want to give version 6.2 a try, it's a little less complicated than latest version but in my opinion it's better balanced.

I disagree, my merchants in 6.2 campaigns lasts quite long, unless they're located on highly contested trade routes.

My suggestion is take it easy.
Wanna just try SS 6.3 or you want byzantines?
If you love Constantinople, play smart. And suggestion like forum mates said are very valuable. Is not uncommon to get your army bribed. In one campaign, in late era, in turn 20-30 a ayyubid diplomat strike and bribed a very skillfull diplomat of mine. Than he start bribing my armies. So I send an assasin to deal with that guy.
A bad start of one campaign is not enough to classify this mod like disapointment. Any ney game I play is hard. All time are challanges. Is a learning curve what us all must go and learn how to enjoy this jewel mod.
Imagine how it feel Gracul, Meneth, Point Blank if we just start say, this mod is a disapointing mod because I am frustated, and we dont like losing.
THis is colunteer work, this mean people do this huge work so us enjoy plaing confortable home.

I suggest to use serach button and search or AAR's, for campaing topics, many people enjoy sharing their experience with others. And dont judge from a first look. And if not suit you at all, no problem. But dont blame my favorite mod please.

I was talking about the unmodded game ..

Ok I gave it another try considering what you said

    The SS.Settings are:

    Early Era
    Savage IA
    Dissable Real recruitment

    The campaign settings are M/M

So after two turns... instead of the random unrest
(without doing anything in peticular) I suddently had a financial minus of about 500.000.000 (I am not joking!!!!)
Althoug the financial balancle said 7000+

Could it be that the saved game is in some way corrupt??

    I am with bane.
Your game is not fixed if you see the option if disabling Real Recruitment.
Either download the Fixes found in the MSSC, or download the MSC (In your case, I reccomend the MSSC).

Also, the only way to get negative millions in the first turn is a lovely glitch found in BGR. Do not play with BGR (Big's Grim Reality).

That bug was usually caused by BGR and permanent watchtowers enabled together. That cause has been eliminated by the Fixes. These days it's usually caused by user error

Nice to hear that everything works fine. Perhaps now You could consider changing the thread title as (for me) "Stainless Steel" together with "dissapointment" wonīt fit. Itīs a bit irritating to read.
    German Translation for Stainless Steel
    6.2 RR/RC; 6.3, 6.4
    Projects / Submods
Alternative AI-Economy (money script) StSt 6.2 RR/RC; StSt 6.3, 6.4; TATW; CoW; Resource for Your Mod
    Alternative Recruitment StSt 6.4

The fixes are "mandatory" but alright. I for one am dissapointed that you don't take the help offered but seem to be searching your own way.

I took the liberty to change the topic title to something more neutral as I'm with Fred Putz on the irritating part and your issue seems to be resolved now...
