WELCOME TO THE VILLA OF Titus Antonius Brutus


His family rose to power after the "secessio plebis", and the passing of the "Lex Hortensia". Acquiring vast amount of wealth and power, they are the most respected Plebeians in Rome. Even respected by some Patrician families. His family is also envied and feared by most Patricians and Plebs.

Titus is very ambitious, using his cunning intellect and skill with words to manipulate and sway others to his cause. He will stop at nothing to fulfill his ambition, regardless of the fact that it is considered a "maiestas". He tends to be tactless at times. He hates Patricians for their over-confidence, arrogance, and the way they treat Plebeians.

His ambitions are unknown, yet some whisper that he seeks to overthrow the Senate and the Patricians, and make himself Dictator of Rome.

A dozen armed-guards are standing outside. "What is your business here?" asks a man of intimidating and great stature.

A young man approached the Domus of fellow Plebeian Titus Antonius Brutus, a Senator of the People of Rome. The young man approached the slave which stood outside the Domus who was waiting for whatever reason. The young man handed the slave a piece of parchment, the man instructed the slave to give it to his master immediately, it read a simple note.

Fellow men of Rome,

I am writing this from Hispania, for those who have not personally met me, I am Consul Lucius Tiberius Imperious, I am away on campaign for the People and Senate of Rome. I ask that all Plebeian Senators come to my Domus after I return home at the end of my term as Consul, I wish to discuss certain issues with you.

Titus was at his study reading Greek classics when he heard a soft knock on his door. Surprised, he went ahead and opened it. One of his slaves was standing there holding a small parchment. Handing it to him he said "For you master" He then bowed and made his way out. Titus read the note. Intrigued, he wonders what matters the consul would wish to discuss. He began to write a reply to the esteemed consul's note.

Servius yawns as he continues reading old texts from previous senatorial meetings, doing so to get a better grasp on oration as well as his general knowledge on various laws. He'd been relaxing in his small garden for the majority of the day, though he abstained from drinking to better understand his studies.

Just as he made his way to the his study to retrieve more documents he was stopped by an unfamiliar looking slave who'd apparently been granted permission to enter his domus. As he scanned over the parchment given to him by the messenger Servius nodded and offered the man food and drink before making his way inside.

Quill in hand, Servius began jotting down a quick reply. He rarely ever spoke with his fellow senators when outside of the curia but a little social contact helped to keep boredom at bay.

Senator Titus Antonius Brutus,

Salve senator. I of course welcome a visit from a fellow roman let alone a fellow senator. I'm afraid my home isn't likely what you'd expect as it's currently in quite the state of disrepair. I'm renovating it to accommodate more guests as well as a larger garden. Not to worry though, I've plenty of food and wine at my disposal. May your journey here be free of impediments.

Finished writing Servius sent his own messenger slave away, telling him to make haste in order to provide a timely reply.

Dearest Friend,
You are invited to the wedding of Livia Valeria Prima and Gaius Cassius Caudex, at the home of Lucius Valerius Poplicola, to be held in the courtyard. Togas required. Wine will be served. Maximum of 2 slaves.

Titus inspects his slaves. He speaks to them in a stern voice.
"Any slave who deserts me and joins the rebels will be crucified along with your families."
The recent increase in slaves running away from their masters to join the rebels is appalling.
"I must hire armed guards to keep watch on my Villa and to keep these slaves at bay." He thought.

The Villa looked empty and lonely without the master. Despite their master being far away, governing Emporiae, the slaves still took care of everything, making sure that the Villa is clean.
The guards ensure the safety of the Senator's possessions and personal belongings.

Titus arrived at the gates of his home. He looked around. He missed his garden, his study, and his warm bed.

"Master!"

the slave cried, both surprised and relieved to see his master.

"What has happen..." he continued but was interrupted by Titus Antonius.

"Hush now. It is a long story that I will tell you later. Fetch me some clothes. I must return to the Senate at once."

The slave bowed and went off to fetch new clothes.
