    Default descr_strat Error?

    Hi,

I've recently downloaded RS II after playing the first one for ages.

    However, I've got a problem.

When I start up the launcher, it's fine. When it gets to the menu, it's fine.

If, however, I try to start any campaign, it does not let me. There's something wrong in the descr_strat file for each one.

    Script Error in
    play_seleucid/data/world/maps/campaign/imperial_campaign/descr_strat.txt, at line 12, column 1.

Expected start date of campaign or battle.

Any way I can get help? I've downloaded RSII into the RTW folder itself, not into any data folders or anything.

Is there an error about "can't select an item from the list" or any other message?

The start of the descr_sttat.txt file looks like this:

Some people encounter problems after they have edited the file and make a mistake. They may be text files but they started out as a spreadsheet which has been exported as a text file. The positioning is very important and that is where the mistakes are usually made.

Did the underlying RTW install work before you used it as a base for RSII? We do suggets that the mod be installed over a working copy of RTW/RTW BI/RTW Alex.

I forgot there was already an existing mod that until now, I had no idea about.

I remember the RS instructions clearly saying that it should be a clean copy...

I'm having the same issue. When I try to run it with basic RTW it doesn't even have the "Click here to start X campaign" but it does have that in the BI exe. When I click on it though, it won't go to the next menu in BI. I hadn't messed with the notepad file, the only thing that may be off is my BI version is showing as 1.4 under the properties.

So in my case downloading the RTW 1.5 and BI 1.6 patches got it working (in BI exe at least, didn't try RTW exe yet), the only problem was that it crashed right at the end of my second battle, just dropped out to the desktop and windows said it has stopped working. That is an issue had the other day with vanilla BI, so I don't think it's related to the MOD.

The only other issue was by the time I got it working, which meant I just had to try it out, that it was after 2 am when it crashed (turned out to be a good thing). So now I've gotten less than 5 hours of sleep and I'm heading into work... ugh, but worth it.

I love what has been done with the historical accuracy of the units, and I'm eager to experiment with this economic system!
